Skype in the Classroom is part of the Microsoft Educator Community, reaching teachers around the globe with everything from lesson plans and

training, to classroom to classroom connections, guest speakers and virtual field trips utilizing Skype. There are no costs involved for teachers or

partners. This is an educational program that aims to remove geographic and economic boundaries to education through the innovative use of

technology in a classroom environment.

Skype Lessons• Take your students around the world without ever leaving the classroom. Skype lessons are live learning

activities given by experts via Skype around a specific topic or theme to enhance learning (E.g. Authors,

marine biologists, explorers)


Virtual Field Trips• Take your students for an adventure without leaving the classroom. Visit our experts out in the field all around the

world and take guided tours

• Visit museums, parks, zoos, aquariums and speak and ask questions in real time


Skype Collaborations• Collaborate with another class on a specific project and get involved in global learning projects that have an

impact in real life

An educational game that connects two classrooms from different parts of the world. The teachers will

know where (and who) they’re calling but students will not. The goal of Mystery Skype is to locate the

other class geographically by asking Yes/No questions (i.e. Is your country landlocked?).

communicate more clearly. Our voice translator currently works in 8 languages, and our text translator is

available in more than 50 languages for instant messaging.
