How the TRON 45S/SX saves lives

The COSPAS/SARSAT system was intro-duced in 1982 as a world wide search andrescue system with the help of satellitescovering the earth’s surface. Since theintroduction of the system more than 11220

(Dec.1999) people have been rescued bythe COSPAS/SARSAT system. Each emer-gency beacon in the system is programmedwith it’s own unique code, therefore it isvital that the ships data given to the dealer

you obtained your EPIRB from is correct.It is also important that your EPIRB isregistered on the data base for each country.

When you activate the Tron 45S, it startstransmitting vessel identity and positioningsignals to the COSPAS/ SARSAT satellites.

The satellite forwards the signal to aGround Receiving Station (LUT) wherealso the position will be calculated andtransferred to a Mission Control Centre(MCC).

The necessary commands will be sent tothe right Rescue Control Centre (RCC)which co-ordinate the rescue operation.

The Search and Rescue Forces (SAR)brings the distress to safety and deactivatesthe Tron 45S.

To test…the Tron 45S/SX is very easy. Justpress the switch to the test position,watch the test indicator and wait for astrobe confirmation.

Programming is also easy due to a infra-red programming system. All decodingand programming can be done withoutopening the unit. Just by holding theinterface towards the programmingpoints externally.

The Tron 45S/SX is designed to followthe well known JOTRON safety mainte-nance and service program. Every 4thyear the battery should be exchangedand every 8th year the whole unit toget-her with the bracket should be servicedand re-certified or exchanged.
