What is TRITOn?

The Translational Information Research Information Omnibus (TRITOn) is an integrative translational research information management platform. It is the product of an NCI funded re-engineering effort of the CSIM software used by the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Research Consortium (CLL-CRC).

CLL-CRC

•Translational research targeting Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)

•Established in 1999

•Cohort of over 5,000 patients

•Comprehensive phenotypic and bio-molecular data sets, as well as bio-specimens

•8 participating sites

Goals

Goals of the project:

•Modernize the technologies underlying the CRC’s clinical and translational research information management systems, including grid technologies and a modern web application framework.•Provide CRC participants with access to tools capable of enabling an increase in research productivity:

- Data exchange

- Bio-specimen management

- Adverse event detection

- Protocol-driven decision support

- Integrative query and data aggregation

•Provide community access to resulting technologies

Grid Service Information

• Grid Service Specifics (Directory, Protocol and Participant)

• caGrid 1.3.0.2

• caCORE 4.2

• Writable API

• Data Services with analytical operations

• Local API – no caCORE web applications needed

• caTissue

• Custom caTissue data service using version 1.1.1 domain model

• Uses standard grid security to authorize grid user access

• Grid users can query using CSM configurations specific to their role.

• caAERS

• caAERS service to allow querying of adverse event codes

• Support for electronic adverse event reporting6

Web Application Information

• Java-based User Interface

• Uses Google Web Toolkit version 2.1 (latest release)

• Uses MVP (model view presentation) architecture

• Purposely uses a clean Google-like interface

• Integrates with caGrid• Dorian Service

• user registration and authentication

• Directory Service• Institution, Site, User and Participant information

• Protocol Service• Creation and management of clinical protocols

• Participant Service• Management of Participant enrollment and CRF data collection

• caTissue Service• Tissue Sample management
