Trip to town

Yeats exhibition • The first place we visited was the W.B Yeats exhibition.• It was quite interesting and covered all aspects of his life. • As you walk in you can sit and hear some of his most famous poems being

read. Some were read by Yeats himself and others by well known Irish people like Sinead O’Connor.

• Some original hand written copies of his poems were on show. • The exhibition also show the work of the other members of the Yeats

family , such as needle work from his sisters Lilly and Lolly.

National gallery • The second place we visited was the national gallery.• First we saw paintings from European .One of the European artists we saw

was Caravaggio. He was an Italian artist during the renaissance. We saw his work called “The taking of Christ”. It was really interesting that Caravaggio painted himself into the picture. He is the man holing the lantern in the far right.

Our guide also pointed out some flaws with proportion in the painting. Jesus’

arms are slightly too long and Judas’ are too short. Also Judas’ ear was repainted and as the painting is so old the correction can now be seen.

• We also saw some Irish artists.• We saw lots of pictures by Jack B. Yeats.• The painting below “Grief”is by Jack B. Yeats.

National museum

• In the national museum we saw the bog bodies.
