Day 1

What is Getaway?Think Scandinavia meets camping, almost in your backyard, and done-for-you.

It's a nature break that could not be made easier for you to pull off.

Getaway has basically customized the Tiny House with a whole wall of plate glass. And your bed is pushed right up to thisgiant window so at night, as you lie in bed, the moon shines through the tall pines right over your shoulder. And you wakeup in the morning, feeling like your'e IN the forest.

Want to sleep in? You can always pack a sleep mask. Or just pull down the high quality black-out blinds.

But to doze between crisp while sheets under a cozy comforter with a cup of creamy warm cocoa on the ledge, while theforest (and even snow flurry this past weekend) where close enough to touch - this is a thrill of an entirely new sort.

Your "nature pod" is situated facing into nature, but it's on a property with other pods and an on-ground caretaker to openyour pod for you, help you with any issues, and tell you about local hiking trails.

Every one has their own firepit with cooking grate, Adirondack chairs, and picnic table. So I found there was a nice balanceof privacy and support.

Each of the pods is named after a grandparent of one of the founders.

Who goes to Getaway? We met a young couple from Manhattan - they had borrowed their cousin's car to get to Catskill NY, but you can get a zipcar or take the train.

We met a woman with her older parents who were visiting from Ohio. Some units fit up to 4 with bunkbed setup.

And we were next door to this Maserati-driving couple.

So how nice IS the pod? These tiny cabins are lined with pine boards, have a small but well equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom with flushingtoilet and hot shower!

The bottom line...For all the fun perks - s'more kits, hot showers, campfire recipes - the core aim of Getaway is to make it easy for you tounplug. Nature is the perfect venue. And they even provide a cell phone lockbox so you put the device out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

Day 2

Make Shakshuka for breakfast?Cook over the fire or on your small indoor range, this is a cumin-spiced tomato roast that poaches the eggs within thesimmering tomatoes. And I often make this with ground lamb.

It's perfect for your unplugged morning because it is definitely a far cry from your typical Wednesday morning rushedaffair.

Here's the recipe below.

But if you're more of a pancake person, then make that easy with a yellow just-add-water-and-shake container and a pintof fresh blueberries. Don't forget the syrup!

Little Sesame’s “Wild Sesame” Campfire Shakshuka

Ingredients

1 ½ tablespoons Extra Virgin olive oil 1 white onion, medium diced6 ea roasted red peppers, peeled and medium diced

5 ea Roma tomatoes, medium dice (if not tomato season you can substitute a small can of whole peeled tomatoes)2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced2 tablespoons tomato paste1 teaspoon cumin1 tablespoon smoked paprikaSalt and Pepper, to taste½ cup water1/2 bunch cilantro, picked and choppedSalt and Pepper, to taste8 eggs Handful fresh mint, torn (optional)Handful fresh flat leaf parsley, torn (optional)

Heat olive oil in a large cast iron skillet, when hot, stir in onions and sauté until onions become translucent. Add roastedpeppers, sauté for two more minutes. Stir in tomatoes, garlic tomato paste, cumin and paprika, sauté for another 2-3minutes, add water and toss in cilantro; stir well. Lower the flame to a simmer and let sauce cook for 10 to 15 minutes.Season to taste. Crack eggs into the sauce and cook until whites are just set (and yolks are still runny). Garnish with freshmint or parsley – or both. Dish up individual servings or eat right out of the pan with your favorite bread.

Don't want to make Campfire breakfast? The town of Catskill is only about 10 minutes away and the W Cafe is a great place for fresh juices (like the Orange withginger, carrot, and oranges, fresh-squeezed), baked on spot scones, lox bagels, and all kinds of eggs and porridge.

What to do for the day?At your cabin you'll find a good little map of local hikes. By Catskill, there're many hikes including a pretty spectacular oneto the Kaaterskill Falls.

In the cabin, there's also a deck of cards, a page of Soduko, Haikus, and conversation starters. Or bring your own book.

Lunch recommendation: The MermaidBack in Catskill there's a hole-in-the-wall with remarkably good ramen, quinoa bowls, and tacos.

Evening at the campsiteThey provide firewood and firestarters in a big waterproof bin at your cabin (you should never bring firewood from homeanyway because that unintentionally spreads bugs that can cause serious environmental harm).

We bought steaks and zucchini for the grill, and - of course- made s'mores.

Day 3

What else do you need to know about Getaway?I would bring ample provisions for dinners, breakfast, cocktails, and snack time. Because once you get settled out here, you are likely not going to want to leave.

Take some photos when you first arrive, but then lock that device up! And feel the freedom. If locking it up makes younervous, that's a sure sign that you are overdue for a tech detox.

Know that Getaway is a brand new company. Getaway Catskill only opened in September. So while the photos look likeyou're deep in a nature sanctuary (and you are once you reach your cabin), be prepared for some on-going building thatyou must drive through to get to your site.

Check out time is 11am. Leave your cabin just like you would a hotel room. Cleaning staff is there to make your exiteasy.

Have fun! It's the easiest quickest most comfy nature break I have taken - maybe ever!
