Taso Italiano is one of those rarerestaurants where every inch of theplace is passion-infused, prepared withcare, and plated to perfection. Classy, upscale (yet affordable), Taso Italianois a destination spot for regulars whocome from as far as Clearwater, LandO’Lakes and Tampa for their expertlyprepared dishes. Located at 4016 Lit-tle Road in Trinity, many of the au-thentic dishes have been passed downthrough Taso’s family, and when youtaste them you know that they’ve beencreated with a tenderness that you justwon’t find at a chain restaurant.

Owner and Chef Taso Stassi is thereal deal. Authentic and passionateabout his restaurant, he and his staffgreet you like family when you walk inthe door with a sincere welcome andan eagerness to please. Customers areinstantly transported by the upscaleItalian décor designed to make youfeel that you’re dining in a small Ital-ian village, complete with the fadedbrick façades and the hanging lightsthat are twinkling from above. Thepictures, photographs and pots andpans on the wall are Taso’s own familyheirlooms, and were in fact, part of hisfather’s restaurant from Long Island, where only the best-of-the-best dinedat the time. That restaurant, L’epicure,is where Taso took his first steps, being born into the kitchen andlearned from some of the best Frenchchefs in the country.

Today, Taso takes his knowledgeof the craft, his impeccable timing, thebest quality ingredients and freshestfoods (many of which are from localfarms and fisherman), and combines

that with some of his own family’srecipes! And, wham, you’ve got “Allthe Best,” which just happens to bethe catch phrase on the menu! Let merephrase that, and explain: There arefour menus, an Early Bird, a Dinnermenu, a Catering menu, and a sepa-rate and altogether equal Pizza menuthat includes Stromboli and Calzones! Each of the menus are jam-packedwith tasty dishes that make it hard tochoose, which is why so many peoplecome back on such a regular basis.

Michael, the owner of Leo’s Bar-ber Shop nearby, comes in all the time.He says, “My favorite is the ChickenFrancese and the Spinach & ArtichokeRangoon!” But, ask around, andyou’ll find that everyone has a differ-ent “favorite,” from the Grandma Pieto the Rack of Lamb.

“All the Best” from the Land, the Sea & the Sky!

Taso humbly explains that hissuccess is only because of the passion-ate and caring staff behind him, which consists of his better half Sab-rina, kitchen manager Keith Ko-marek, sous chef Jim Ketzner, pizzachef “Patrick-The-Pizza-Guy,” frontof the house manager Jen and all oftheir great servers. Taso has created arestaurant experience that has peoplejust raving about the place. Add thefull liquor bar and the live music onFriday and Saturday nights, and thisplace is really cooking.

Kathy and Paul Bullara of LandO’Lakes proudly call themselves regu-lars. Kathy said, “We love how Tasoalways comes around and announces,‘We’ve got the best food from theland, the sea and the sky!’ That’s be-

cause he had quail on the menutoday!” She added, “You’ve got to trythe Fish in Filo, it’s my favorite! Onetime I came and they were out of it, sonow I call ahead to make sure theysave me some!” The Fish in Filo isTaso’s father’s creation, and one thatreally goes fast. Similar to a GreekSpanakopita, but with fresh fish fromthe Gulf, the dish is heavenly.

Paul said, “The food is phenome-nal. We love the service and the atten-tion, and Taso comes out to talk toyou! It’s great!” He adds, “Oh andyou’ve gotta get the white pizza!”

Kathy also said, “We havebrought at least ten couples to thisrestaurant because we like it so much, and on top of that we have Taso caterour Christmas Eve dinner for my hus-band’s Italian family!” You can’tquite get a better recommendationthan that!

When you have a calling to be arestaurant owner, like Taso does, it’s

not surprising that every little detail isimportant! It’s more than a business,it’s more than a restaurant, it’s alifestyle for Taso and his staff! So,with that in mind, Taso spends a lotof time seeking out quality ingredi-ents to put in his food. Taso’s passionfor fishing and hunting is why he hasso many local fishermen for friends, who provide him their daily catch. He visits the local fruit and veggiestands, and lives on a small farm him-self. It’s this commitment to fresh, quality ingredients that helps makethe food so delicious. Add his manyyears of experience, and the food justmelts in your mouth.

Taso extends his high standardsto his kitchen, and having seen hiskitchen on a busy Friday night, his ex-pectations on how a restaurant shouldbe kept is perfection. Let me tell you,it’s not every restaurant owner thatknows his kitchen is spot-on at everygiven moment.

Taso Italiano Offers “All The Best” Authentic Italianwith an International Flair!

Diners love the personal attention that Taso Stassi and his amazing teamprovide to make sure every experience at Taso Italiano is magnificent!

Taso says,“We only use Upper 2/3 BlackAngus Chairman’s Reserve and thatis why we have so many people whocome here for the steak!”

And don’t forget about theRigatoni Bolognese, the Lasagna andthe Italian Sausage.

Recently, Taso Italiano was avendor at The Taste of Trinity, andthe line for Taso’s food wrappedaround the courtyard at SevenSprings Middle School! Worth thewait, though, let me tell you, thesauce, the meatballs, their food wasthe talk of the event!

both sides of the coin - from insurancedefense to victim representation.

Attorney Philips spends a lot ofhis time educating his clients and feelsthat more people need to understandwhat the changes made to the FloridaNo Fault Law in 2013 mean forFlorida’s drivers.

What You Should Know AboutFlorida No Fault

The no-fault concept was devel-oped in the 70s and has recently un-dergone some changes. Florida NoFault requires each individual to self-insure for auto accident related in-juries, lost wages and medical bills. Inorder to cover ourselves we must pur-chase Personal Injury Protection (PIP)and Medical Payments (MP) as a partof our insurance package. ChuckPhilips says, “We are constantly askedby clients why their insurance companyhas to pay for their medical expenses, when the other party was clearly atfault. The answer is simple. Florida lawrequires it to be done that way. Thus,

carrying adequate PIP and MP cover-age is clearly in your best interest.”

The new changes to PIP coveragestate that you must seek medical treat-ment within 14 days of your auto acci-dent. Your choice of which doctor yousee is not limited, as with an HMO,but you must inform your doctor thatyou are seeking medical attention foran auto accident and provide themwith your PIP information.

Chuck gave me a full synopsis ofhis personal understanding when itcomes to the changes in the Florida

No Fault laws. He advises following these steps

for your protection when it comes toyour PIP coverage:

• You must receive initial carewithin 14 days from one of these:EMT or paramedic, physician (MD orDO), dentist, chiropractor, hospital orhospital-owned clinic.

• Follow-up care must be on a re-ferral from that initial provider, refer-ring to a physician (MD or DO),chiropractor, dentist, certain nursepractitioners, physical therapist, hospi-tal, hospital owned clinic, or surgerycenter.

PIP reimbursement is limited to$2,500 unless there is a finding thatyou have an “emergency medical con-dition” which is very specifically de-fined and must be made by a physician(MD or DO), dentist, physician’s as-sistant (PA) or nurse practitioner(ARNP).

Follow up care will be reim-bursed, up to $10,000, but only if thefinding of “emergency medical condi-tion” is made.

PIP no longer pays for massagetherapy or acupuncture.

If you only see a chiropractor, re-imbursement is limited to $2,500.

If PIP benefits do not apply be-

cause you didn't get treatment within14 days, or they apply but were ex-hausted, your healthinsurance/Medicare may be used.

As for lost wage coverage, yourPIP will pay you 60% of your averageweekly wage and the other 40% be-comes part of your damage claimagainst the at-fault party’s insurancecompany, if you decide to proceedwith trial.

Chuck says, “If you decide to set-tle, you may obtain treatment underyour PIP or health insuranceplan/Medicare after your case is set-tled. Your right to continued treat-ment under PIP would be limited bythe amount of benefits you choose(generally $10,000), and could be ter-minated following an IndependentMedical Examination (IME). How-ever, barring an IME termination, youmay treat under your PIP so long asyou need treatment or until benefitsare exhausted. That is why monitoringyour expenses is important so thatyour benefits are not used unwiselyand prematurely.”

Motorcyclists are not coveredunder Florida No Fault, so they areexcluded from the requirement of car-rying PIP. Charles suggests that allmotorcyclists carry PIP and Bodily In-

jury Liability coverage in order to pro-tect themselves in an auto accidentclaim because they cannot count onthe at-fault party to have Bodily InjuryLiability as part of their insurance. When a motorcyclist has no Bodily In-jury Coverage they are left with highmedical bills that aren’t covered andcan even lose their license.

In 2012, I had the privilege to writeabout the opening of the new, state-of-the-art home of the Pikos ImplantInstitute, founded by Dr. Pikos in1991. Dr. Pikos teaches state of theart advanced bone and soft tissuegrafting surgical techniques to clini-cians from around the globe includingall 50 states and 32 countries. Dr.Pikos is one of the leading global ex-perts in these innovative oral and max-illofacial surgery proceduresprompting dental surgeons worldwideto travel to our area to learn from himand improve their own practices. Infact, dentists at the most recent bone-grafting course at the Pikos ImplantInstitute represented seventeen statesand seven countries. While his work atthe Pikos Implant Institute is helpingpeople exponentially through thetraining that brings these techniquesto patients throughout the world, Dr.Pikos is still true to his calling – hewants to heal and help the individualpatient and effect positive change ineach of their lives.

Dr. Pikos shared what he and hiscolleagues are now able to do for theirpatients with Same Day Teeth®, and

the results are fantastic! Patients whoundergo this cutting edge technologyenjoy so many life-changing benefits.Renewed self-esteem and the ability toenjoy all types of food again are mak-ing people fall in love with life again!

Change Your Life WithSame Day Teeth®

People who have shied away fromimplants in the past are finding thatthey aren’t nearly as intimidated by thenew technique now available withSame Day Teeth®. Ed White fromWeeki Wachee admits that he grew abig mustache to hide his less-than-per-fect smile. However, after Same DayTeeth®, he says, “I can smile now andI actually cut [my mustache] up a littlehigher to show off my teeth.” Priorto Same Day Teeth®, he had triedupper and lower dentures, but asfriends had warned him, he found thatit was impossible to chew correctly.Mr. White says that everything he’dheard about implants sounded “hor-rid, like torture, and I really didn’twant any part of it.” But after learn-ing about Same Day Teeth® from Dr.Pikos, Ed reconsidered. “The newway of doing it sounded like such aneasy thing that I really had to lookinto it.” He had implants and perma-nent teeth done in both jaws all at one

appointment while he wassedated, and he has never re-gretted his decision.

There were a lot of rea-sons behind Ed White’s deci-sion, but the sweetest reasonwas that he wanted to im-press his wife. He said, “Ihad to do something be-cause I was retired and wasgoing to be out more so-cially. And really, I did it outof respect for my wife. Forher––I want to look better.”He is enjoying looking bet-ter, and he also enjoying a fa-vorite food! “If you don’thave bottom teeth that areanchored, you can’t eatpizza,” shared Ed. Now he isenjoying pizza, corn-on-the-cob and anything else hewants to bite into!

Unlike dentures, SameDay Teeth® not only lookand feel like your naturalteeth, but they perform like your nat-ural teeth. Perhaps even more enjoy-able than the fact that they are, inEd’s words, “rock-solid,” is that SameDay Teeth® do not interfere withyour taste buds because the palateisn’t covered by a prosthetic pieceholding dentures in place. “People

who enjoy eating are going to lovehaving them because they’re rocksolid,” said Ed, who recommendsSame Day Teeth® at Coastal Jaw Sur-gery to anyone who is now using den-tures. “There is no comparison andthis is from a non-foodie saying this.”He talked of the surgery, “I felt nor-mal and three days later, there was no

Ed White highly recommends Dr. Pikos’Same Day Teeth® procedure -It’s something to smile about!

pain - it was unbelievable.” So, Same Day Teeth® work well,

but how do they look, you ask? Edshares, “I have a lot of people ask me,‘Your teeth look so good, who is yourdentist?’ And, I hate saying that theyain’t real. If you’ve got dentures inyour mouth, you shouldn’t be hesi-tant. It’s very simple. It was the bestdentist experience I’ve had, and I’vehad quite a few of them. Dr. Pikossaid he had this new thing that I’d beperfect for. It’s so much differentthan what all the people I know thathave implants had; my implants are somuch better than what they had to gothrough. It’s so easy – nobody shouldbe afraid to go through it. And again,Dr. Pikos was great.”

Dr. Pikos Explains the SameDay Teeth® Difference

Dr. Pikos is not your average den-tal surgeon, and offers nothing lessthan the absolute best to his patients. The world-renowned oral surgeon andeducator is also a visionary who has al-ways sought out other experts to facili-tate a better way to treat patients.Turning to experts in science andtechnology has led to a “paradigmshift” in dental implants, according toDr. Pikos, who explains the “All-on-4concept,” pioneered by Dr. PauloMalo of Lisbon, Portugal. Dr. Pikossays that it is the tilting of the anchorsin the jawbone that makes All-on-4 sounique and strong, allowing him toplace a minimal number of implants tohold a greater number of fixed teeth –

resulting in beautiful, natural-lookingteeth that never need to come out!

Prior to the Same Day Teeth®protocol, many patients had to gothrough several painful surgeries andhealing processes before their dentalimplants were finally done. Bone graftswere often necessary, taking six to tenmonths to heal. It could take up toone to two years for a complete dentalimplant restoration, but today withthe new technology, Dr. Pikos says,“Literally on the day of surgery, ourpatient will leave with both implantsand teeth that are not removable. Thefirst set stays in for four months – theylook great and patients can function inthose teeth for a year or longer. How-ever, after 4 months a second set ofteeth are made for long term use thatare even more esthetic. Dr. Pikos ex-plains that in patients who are candi-dates for Same Day Teeth®, “tiltingimplants eliminates the need for sinusand jawbone grafts, enabling patientsto transition right to teeth that don’tcome out in one day. I’ve done over1,100 sinus grafts in my career, andthere is still a need for them for thosewho have some teeth they want tokeep,” explains Dr. Pikos. The SameDay Teeth® protocol is highly recom-mended for both patients with den-tures, as well as for those who havemultiple teeth in poor repair. For thelatter group, teeth are extracted, im-plants are placed, and the fixed teethare secured all at the same appoint-ment. This is all done while the pa-tient is sleeping and requires just a few

hours for each jaw. Why choose Coastal Jaw Surgery

over one of the advertised clinics thatoffer seemingly similar procedures?Dr. Pikos says, “Same Day Teeth® isnot the same as the advertised proto-cols.” The teeth going in on the dayof surgery are created from virtual im-ages from a state-of-the-art lab thatutilizes exacting digital technology toprovide patients with the best fittingteeth possible. There is quite a bit ofpre-planning involved, which actuallycuts down on the time the patient hasto be in the office. The size and typeof implant is predetermined with com-puter software that allows for preciseplacement of both the implants andthe teeth at time of surgery. This is incontrast to the conventional waywhere the surgeon places the implantsfree hand. And the teeth are madefrom superior materials, giving a beau-tiful result! “We’ve merged the tradi-tional way with the high-tech digitalimaging technology, and it makes allthe difference in the final result. As aresult, our patient fully benefits be-cause it means less chair time, less ex-pense, and fewer treatments.” Headds, “I have embraced the technol-ogy. As an educator, I have to stay ontop of my game.” Dr. Pikos hastrained more than 2,800 dental sur-geons in grafting procedures includ-ing the digital technology that ischanging dentistry. He recently taughtthe first course on Same Day Teeth®at the Pikos Implant Institute in Sep-tember. He says, “We are the only in-stitute teaching this approach in theentire country.”

There is a lot of science behindwhat Dr. Pikos does, but his heart istruly in making a difference in peo-ple’s lives. “People get very emo-tional when they see their immediateresult on that same day,” shares Dr.Pikos. “We are normalizing their life. This is something that transcends allsocioeconomic statuses and can hap-pen to anyone. To see the immediatechange in our patients’ self-image isvery satisfying to me.” If you arefrustrated with existing dentures, orhave multiple teeth in poor repair, look no further than Coastal JawSurgery for immediate relief. In ad-dition to Same Day Teeth®, CoastalJaw Surgery’s team of Board Certi-fied Oral and Maxillofacial surgeonsperform state-of-the-art dental im-plant procedures, Digitally GuidedBone Augmentation™, periodontalplastic surgery, wisdom teeth extrac-tions, extractions with site preserva-tion, pediatric and pre-orthodonticcare, oral pathology and the safest, proven anesthesia options.
