2. Closure and Next Step

• Plans  for  CELCS,  CIE,  and  SSC  (Objectives  1A,  3B,  4D)

• Vision  for  Chapman  and  Halsell renovation  for

focused  fundraising

• Actionable  steps  from  Task  Force  on  Faculty

Workload

(Political  Science)

What is a QEP?

SACS COC Handbook for Institutions Seeking Reaffirmation, pg. 39

“  .  .  .  a  carefully  designed  course  of  action  that

addresses  a  well-‐defined  and  focused  topic  or  issue

QEP Topic

Starting  Strong:  Intentional  Strategies  for  Improving  First-‐Year  Student  Success

at  Trinity  University  Three  components:• Develop  first-‐year  courses  that  promote  student  learning  and  early

intervention

• Improve  training,  information,  and  resources  for  first-‐year  advisors

• Expand  support  programming  and  support  resources  for  first-‐year  students

Some Key PointsWhat SACS will be looking for

• The  development  of  the  QEP  is  a  faculty   driven  process  with  input

from  a  broad  base  of  stakeholders

• A  development  process  that  includes  a  careful  examination  of  the

literature  and  best  practices

• Trinity  has  the  capacity to  implement  and  sustain  the  QEP

• Implementation  strategies  with  a  clear  timeline and  assignment  of

responsibilities

• QEP  has  identified  goals  and  a  plan  to  assess them
