A convoy headed by 40 motorcyclist from local chapters, led seven amazing ladies from San Antonio down to the Valley for Trinity Oaks’ Annual Women’s Hero Celebration. It would be 4 days filled with hunting, fishing, eating good food, and sitting around a campfire listening to good music. This year, we hosted seven amazing women including Angela Anderson, Rachel Brokaw, Jessica Clymer, Tiffany Johnson, Miriam Penado, Cathy Shaw and Amy Brakefield.

HERO CELEBRATIONS

We've had great time saluting these 7 heroes. Thank you to these ladies for their service to our great Country

ANNUAL WOMEN’S CELEBRA-

After their arrival and lunch, the ladies were given time on the range for target practice. The day wrapped up with campfire concert. The first full day started off with a successful morning hunt. The ladies successfully harvested three Nilgai cows and a feral hog. After a quick break for lunch, they harvested two more Nilgai cows, two javelina, a hog and a rattle snake! A dinner of chicken fried axis backstrap and grilled quail and another fireside concert by Thom Shepherd & Coley McCabe finished the second day of the event. An exciting evening hunt finished up the hunting portion with everyone harvesting at least one animal. Next it was onto the fishing portion with the ladies out bay fishing for most of the day. After catching their fair share, everyone convened at Paige’s Place for a fresh fish fry. Break Away tours provided a boat to take the ladies to South Padre Island for a sunset dinner cruise. This last full day of the event was a busy one and the participants enjoyed every moment! SCOUTING AERIAL PHOTOS

The annual Ladies Hero Celebration came to a close on the morning of April 10th. After one last breakfast together the ladies left the ranch and headed in their separate directions. It was such an honor to host these heroic women this week. We cannot put into words our intense appreciation for their service and

sacrifice. It is through their work and the work of others that this great nation is fortified and protected. Trinity Oaks can only host these important veteran events with the support of our generous donors and volunteers. Your donations of both time and money mirror the generosity of God for providing such bounty for us. If you are interested in how you can help support Trinity Oaks and our work in His name, visit our website. There you will find information about our youth and veteran programs as well as donation opportunities.

FUN ON THE GUADALUPE

A DREAM HUNT TO REMEMBER – KOLBY’S EXPERIENCE

Trinity Oaks had the privilege of hosting a wonderful Dream Hunt with the one-and-only Kolby Harvey! Kolby is 16 years old boy with Cerebral Palsy. He is wheelchair bound, full of life and a joy to be around. Joining Kolby on the trip to the Hill Country outside of Kerrville, Texas was Kolby’s brother, Uriah, par-ents Brandy and Sam, his Nana Charlotte, and cousin Dakota.

After almost 11 hours, each of the boys had harvested a beautiful ram. All three were marked with the “Texas tradition” of blood smeared on their cheeks, grinning ear to ear in the family photo.

Trinity Oaks had the honor of hosting some wounded military heroes and their families on a turkey hunt near Batesville. It was the first time using the hunting blind from MB Ranch King Hunting Blinds. The blind is completely handicapped accessible and was built at cost. D e s i g n e d s p e c i f i c a l l y t o accommodate the ActionTrack Chairs that help allow the Heroes to get around during our events. The event was also the first time using the truck donated by ChemJet Inc. We've had great time saluting these 7 heroes. Thank you to these ladies for their service to our great Country

DREAM HUNT FOR LOUIS SILVER Trinity Oaks had the pleasure of helping fulfill Louis Silver’s dream of going on a trophy blackbuck hunt with his family in order to create lasting memories. Louis is a 40 year old father of four who is battling Gioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). GBM is a form of brain cancer with a 0% survival rate. The average life expectancy from GBM diagnosis is 14 months and it had been over a year since Louis was diagnosed. As a result of two surgeries Louis has lost sight in one eye and had limited vision in the other. He also has tremors that range in severity.

With arrangements made, the Silver family (Louis, Michelle, 13 year old Ashton and 6 year old Kylie) drove to the Thirsty River ranch in Eden Texas. After safety and shooting instruction from Josh Mayfield (former Marine and Trinity Oaks guide), it was time to start hunting. It being a family hunt, first it was Ashton’s turn and it wasn’t long before a herd of Aoudad were spotted. With the squeeze of the trigger the bullet hit its mark and the aoudad was on the ground. The next morning after about 2 hours in the blind Josh and Louis spotted a large blackbuck.

They quietly left the blind to attempt a stalk on foot for a closer shot. It took about an hour of sneaking to get within 150 yards of the herd. Josh got Louis set up on the bog pod shooting sticks. As Louis put the crosshairs on the beautiful trophy he began to have severe tremors caused by his multiple brain surgeries.

SPECIAL THANKS TO DANIEL DEFENSE,

THIRSTY RIVER RANCH, BARNES BULLETS,

NATURE BLAINDS, BOG POD, DOUBLE

NICKEL TAXIDERMY

He watched the buck for several minutes but finally decided his tremors were too bad to guarantee a clean kill shot. He would need to wait until his tremors subsided and continue his hunt in the afternoon. They went back to meet everyone for lunch, recap the mornings events, and plan the evening's hunt.

Even though Louis shot a trophy axis the day

before, he was ecstatic to learn that we would still

be hunting for his trophy blackbuck. Setting out on

foot, they finally spotted a trophy buck. Crawling

across some open grassy areas they closed the

distance to less than 100 yards. Josh set up the bog

pod shooting sticks and Louis slid the rifle in place.

Louis' shot was perfect and his dream of killing a

trophy blackbuck was now a reality. Trinity Oaks

will process the meat from the hunt to fill the

Silver's freezer and all 3 trophies will be mounted

so the family will have a lasting reminder of this

amazing Dream trip.

We had the privilege and honor of hosting Heroes On The Water BAMC over the weekend at our Guadalupe River Camp in Seguin! It looks like they had an AWESOME time with a lot of laughs and a lot of fish!!

PROCESSING PLANT NEWS

Lots of exciting things happening at the Trinity Oaks Meat Processing Plant.. One of our goals in 2014 is to expand the processing plant to handle additional volume. Because of donations received we are currently constructing a 20x30 walk-in freezer and a 20x30 walk-in cooler. We are also starting a project for a secure parking lot that will house all of the Trinity Oaks vehicles and trailers.

We are on point for our 2014 goal of distributing over 125,000 pounds of meat, representing 500,000 individual meals. In the second quarter alone we distributed over 15,500 pounds of processed meat!

GUADALUPE RIVER CAMP HOSTS EVENTS FOR RIVER CITY COMMUNITY CHURCH

Located in Seguin Texas, our Guadalupe River Camp was founded in 2012 with the goal of offering a place for children without opportunity and the disabled to traverse their limitations and strengthen both them and their families for the benefit of our entire community. Already offering dream hunts and outdoors adventures for nearly 400 annually, we envision the site serving thousands as well as being a resource for other nonprofit partners and school groups. River City Community Church uses the property regularly for different events. Just last quarter they had a Father/son campout one weekend, followed by a campout for inner-city children. The groups enjoyed swimming, fishing, kayaking, volleyball, and the joy of just being in the outdoors. The blessings Trinity Oaks has received from generous donors are the reason we can host such amazing events. Thank you to our donors and volunteers for your generosity and support.
