>What’s Happening at Trinity

Worship Surveys: Thanks to all who participated last weekend in our worship surveys. We had approximately 540 surveys turned in. Currently we are entering the data. When we know the results we’ll host a congregational meeting(s) for anyone who is interested. Please note: the surveys may, or may not, result in changes at Trinity but we appreciate this information so that we can make informed decisions as we move forward in ministry. “NEXT STEP” Stewardship Commitment Weekend (May 21/22): Be on the lookout for a mailing that contains this year’s commitment cards. We’re asking you to prayerfully consider 2 Commitments. First, we’re asking you to commit to taking a “next step” in your faith journey during the coming year in at least one of three areas: Engaging God, Engaging God’s People, or Engaging the World. Second, we’re asking you to make a financial commitment to support the ministry of our church, school, and early childhood center. These commitments are to be returned to Trinity on our Commitment Weekend as an act of worship. If you have any questions please contact Pastor Ken.

Note: Our last Saturday evening worship service of the season is Saturday May 28. Monday night Worship begins June 6 @ 7 p.m. Sermon Series Begins June 5 -“American Idols” We all have idols; false gods. We don’t mean to but we do. The 1st Commandment tells us to have “no other gods.” Join us for this 5 week series as we explore a variety of “American Idols” that seek to push Jesus out of the center of our lives and which get in the way of faithfully following Him. DO YOU HAVE SMALL CHILDREN? The church nursery is open and staffed at all church services by licenses professionals for children age three and under. For more information, contact Jeremy Ashley at [email protected]. SUNDAY BIBLE STUDIES—These Bible classes resume at 9:30 a.m. A LETTER TO THE ROMANS - The overarching theme of the Book of Romans is our righteousness that comes from God through faith in Christ alone. The beginning of the book speaks to this doctrine, while the latter part of Romans gives us practical truths on how to live out our faith as disciples of Christ. Join us for an in-depth look at the apostle Paul's epistle to the church in Rome, beginning May 1, 9:30 a.m. Location: Rooms 4-5. Leader: Kathy Bell. 252—HOPE: Believing something good can come out of something bad. That’s what K–5th graders are talking about this month at 252. 252 (from Luke 2:52) is designed to help kids grow in faith and learn how to live it in the real world. We meet from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Sundays in the Early Childhood Center. Questions? Contact Jeremy Ashley at [email protected] or 586-463-8803. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS – a Bible study on personal peacemaking. This series will help you appreciate the gift of reconciliation that is yours in Christ Jesus and improve your service as Christ's ambassador in daily life. Leader: David Brown. Continues today at 9:30 a.m. Location: Church Lounge. MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDY AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES NEW MID-WEEK STUDY—How can we be servant leaders like Jesus?—Come, be reminded of our real identity – in Christ!, talk about what exactly a “Christ-like Servant Leader” is, and explore how this could begin to change the look of our homes, workplaces, and community. Learn how we can live out our faith, no matter our background or circumstance, and hear from people who have already begun this intentional

$100 FOR STUDENTS— Each week on Wednesday, Trinity has CEF Stamps available for purchase so students can develop and grow a savings account for their future. CEF is a Christian financial organization that cares about the congregations and congregation members here in Michigan. Every week, Mr. Petzold adds $1 to someone’s stamp account through a random drawing for everyone who participated on that day. At the end of each month, there is a “major” drawing using all the names of the students that participated during that months’ time. Thrivent has offered to join with students participating in the CEF Stamp savings program. Thrivent will provide a $100 prize on June 8 for our “major” drawings. CEF and Thrivent are not the same entity, but they are both Christian financial organizations that care about people. REMAINING CHAPEL OFFERINGS support Groundwork Guatemala. The offering will support Trinity’s sponsored students in Guatemala. Encourage your student to bring in their chapel offering each Wednesday until the end of the year. BAND INSTRUMENTS WANTED—The school is looking to have as many instruments on-hand for our band students to use by creating a donation program that provides each band member an instrument. We have a few instruments that the school owns, but the majority of our families have to rent them each year. If you have an instrument to donate, please bring it to the school office. Please call Julian Petzold at 586-468-8511 if you have any questions. HELP NEEDED FOR FIELD DAY—Field day is a wonderful event for the students which is traditionally held at the end of the school year. This year, Field Day is in the afternoon on June 9 This event requires MANY volunteers to make it work smoothly! Please call the school office to put your name on the list to help. WALKATHON PRIZES NEEDED—Prize donations for the annual Walkathon are being collected! If you are able to help make the Walkathon a success and loads of fun for the kids contact Shannon at 586-634-8868.

She received the call in April and, after much prayer and discernment, she announced that God has led her to accept the call to teach 6th grade at Fari-bault Lutheran School. She will be moving to Minnesota sometime this summer. She is an excellent teacher, and we will miss her as she follows God’s leading in her life. We are seeking to begin the process very soon to find a new 5th grade teacher for next year. Anyone interested should provide a resume and cover letter to Mr. Julian Petzold, Principal, by Friday, May 20, 2016. WIFI is available in our building. Look for the network TLC-Guest and use the password ResponsibleGuest (all one word).
