TRINITY EXPLORES BLENDED LEARNING
HIGH SCHOOL Members of the board and administration have done research on blended learning programs and are exploring how a program like this would offer us the opportunity to add a high school to Trinity Christian School. Watch a short video about blended learning at Trinity’s website by clicking on the quick link at the bottom of the page.
Gauging the interest of our current families is the next step in the process. If you have not done so already, please take a moment to fill out the interest survey. Check all that apply and fill out the bottom portion, as we would like to collect one survey from every family, kindergarten through 8th grade.
More information about Alpha Omega Academy’s online curriculum is available at their website, www.aoacademy.com/christian-schools/.

STUDENTS MARK 100th DAY OF SCHOOL Did you know that Feb. 4 was the 100th day of school? It was! Students in first and second grade marked
the 100th day of school by dressing as centenarians. The sign outside the first grade classrooms read “100
Days Smarter.” Indeed! The top photo shows Mrs. Kunde and Miss Taylor’s students, dressed as
centenarians to mark the 100th day of school. The bottom photo similarly shows Mrs. Behnke and her
students.

Chapel Notes, by Camden B., Guest Contributor to the Son Times Guest Speaker: Pastor Kevin Lynch
Wednesday in chapel, Pastor Kevin Lynch spoke about how we need to have desire to worship the Lord. David is a great
example of that. In Psalm 100, he praised the Lord in everything he did. Pastor Lynch said David had a childlike faith. We
need to trust in him in everything we do just like David did.
Volunteer Nation
Everyone should be receiving monthly emails from the Volunteer Coordinator, Mrs. Janine McDavitt, with an update on their family volunteer hours. If you haven’t seen this message, please email Mrs. McDavitt at [email protected] to ask for the current status of your family’s volunteer hours.
A friendly reminder: if you haven’t begun earning volunteer hours for this school year, please be advised that you should begin now. The last half of the school year will go by quickly. We would rather have you serve here than pay $25/unfulfilled volunteer hour at the end of the school year. If you need to brainstorm ways to meet your family’s volunteer hour quota, please feel free to email Mrs. McDavitt at the above email.

ENJOY DATE NIGHT WITH DAD IN FEBRUARY 22 Calling all dads! Saturday, Feb. 22, 6-8:30 p.m. is Date Night with Dad! We’re going to have a red-carpet-themed
night to enjoy with your daughter(s). You and your daughter will have the opportunity to walk the runway in our
TCS fashion show as well! We’d like to really bring out the red carpet theme, so we are in need of some moms/
grandparents to volunteer to do flash photography for the girls and dads as they enter the event that evening. We
also need volunteers to help out before, during, and after the event, 5-9 p.m. Please contact Mrs. Heather Frakes
at [email protected] if you can volunteer that night. Forms to R.S.V.P. for the evening were sent home
already. Additional forms are available in the front office. Please R.S.V.P. by Feb. 13 to participate.
BUILDING ENTRY: If you arrive at school during
half-day kindergarten dismissal or preschool arrival
or dismissal, when the doors are open for students to
arrive or depart, please use the buzzer to the left of the doors to be let into the building. We ask that you please
not enter through the doors open for students at that time as it is disruptive to the process. Staff will stop
anyone trying to enter this way, as it is a safety issue. Any time you enter the school, please stop by the front
office to check in. There are rare exceptions to this, such as Wednesday mornings for chapel attendance.
Thank you very much for your attention to these important matters.
BENEFIT EVENT INVITATIONS Benefit Event invitations were distributed at the Mandatory parent meeting Tuesday. If you were not able to attend and have not received one yet, please check your youngest child’s backpack or folder, as your invitation was sent home Wednesday. If it hasn’t reached you yet, please email Mrs. Toya Thomas at [email protected] and she will get one to you, as soon as possible. Thank you. We look forward to seeing you there!
New Will County Courthouse Dedication Project
To mark the dedication of the new courthouse in Will County, the Chief Justice, along with the
Daughters of the American Revolution, are creating a time capsule to be placed on the grounds of
the courthouse.
Your child has an opportunity to submit a project that may be chosen to be placed in the time
capsule.
Guidelines:
Students must use an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper to submit all artwork or written submissions.
Each school has been asked to submit 5 entries with a minimum of 2 to be placed in the time
capsule.
All entries will be copied onto archival paper, using special ink, to ensure they are preserved
for 25 years.
Include your child’s s name, grade, school, and town on the back of the submission.
The themes for the submissions include:
Grades K-2 Draw a picture of the American flag, and tell what it means to you.
Grade 3 Pick one U.S. State you would like to live in, and explain why.
Grades 4-6 If you could be someone from American history, explain who and why.
Grades 7-12 If you could make an amendment to the U.S. Constitution, what would it be and
why is it needed.
*Submissions need to be turned in to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, February 25, 2020.*
TCS Administration will choose 5 projects to be sent in for the time capsule.
All other submissions will be displayed at TCS for all to see.
