Danny Barber is one of the finest trumpet artists I have ever had the pleasure of performing with. I have per-formed with Danny on numerous occasions and his warm personality, sense of humor and down to earth style attracts people to him. His rich, often powerful trumpet sound combined with his musicality are truly what raises Goosebumps on music lover’s hides world-wide.

I rate Danny as one of the top trumpeters today’s young musicians should strive to emulate.

Dr. Grant ManhartAssistant Professor of High Brass,Northern State UniversityAlumni of : Buddy Rich Band, Broadway,Carol Channing Show, and others.

To Whom It May Concern:

For several years I was Resident Pops Conductor of the South Bend Symphony. During that time I did quite a few programs, which had in them jazz-oriented works. For most of those years Danny Barber played lead trum-pet with the orchestra in their Pops Concerts, or was a featured soloist. Those years became legendary in South Bend, because of many factors, not the least of which was Danny’s brilliant leadership/soloing.

During that time I also recorded for Pro Arte, and whenever I needed a strong lead player or soloist we would bring Danny in to fill those shoes. He never failed to play brilliantly and help make the project we were record-ing a success.

I’m an itinerant Pops Conductor with many orchestras, and I always miss Danny’s playing when I’m working with them; I don’t dare program many of the works we played in South Bend, because the local players, unlike Danny, can’t bring them off.

I have no qualms at all in recommending Danny for whatever exhibitions/concerts you have in mind.

Yours sincerely,

Newton WaylandInternational Symphony Conductor

Danny Barber is the history of jazz trumpet and more. He brought down the house when he soloed with my band!

Consider this: Danny Barber knows what it is like to play lead trumpet for the most successful entertainers in the industry.

He knows what it means, and yes, what it takes to play the toughest, most demanding Broadway show books.

There isn’t a big band, a show band, or a studio orchestra in America that he can’t fit in with and perform on a moment’s notice with a level of excellence.

His incredible background, his professionalism, and most of all, his colossal, amazingly musical power, all add up to more than just a man and his music.

He’s an inspiration to anyone who seeks to excel.

I’m proud to say that I’ve had Danny on all five of my recording projects since 1987.

Danny has impeccable intonation, great stylistic awareness, plenty of range, and never misses an entrance or a coda . . . . . the ultimate professional trumpeter.

I can’t imagine recording without him. I have been involved with him in many concert and clinician situations and highly recommend him for your Jazz Ensemble and legit programs. DB covers it all.

Danny Barber is one of the most inspirational players I’ve ever heard! He is not only an exciting and gutsy lead player, but a compelling and creative improviser as well.

In addition to his playing in a jazz/commercial vein, he also does a great job on the more “legit” side, as well.

In short . . . . Danny Barber does it all!

Danny Barber is one of the great musicians it has been my pleasure to be associated with over the years. Danny is truly a great trumpeter and soloist; his sound and interpretation of any style of music is extraordinary. He has been involved with me on my recordings and live performances. He is truly an asset in any musical situation.

Danny Barber is not only one of the best lead trumpet players in the country, he is a superb teacher and educa-tor. He works patiently with students at all levels, and those students who are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him invariably improve.

With Danny Barber, you not only have a great teacher - you have a teacher who can demonstrate just about anything.

Besides being a consummate performer (both jazz and classical), Danny is an outstanding instructor of trum-pet. Students of all ages blossom under his tutelage. Anyone wishing to better their playing, be it jazz or legit, should study with Danny.

We had Danny Barber in to work with the VanderCook Jazz Ensemble and he had an immediate impact on the students.

His discussions about being a LEAD player and his great playing examples were quite an inspiration to the ensemble members.

Danny is an outstanding player, clinician and human being.

I’ve been a professional musician for the last 56 years. Now that is a long time, and during that time I’ve performed with many, many good musicians. Amongst those musicians is an outstanding one by the name of Danny Barber.

We’ve performed together on recordings, commercials, theatrical shows, and concerts. We worked Frank Sinatra, who is a demanding, and discerning arist. He only allowed the best to work for him.

Danny has always been, in my book, top notch. His tonal conception and technique and intonation was, and is, superior. As a lead trumpet player, he is one of the easiest to follow, and was, and is a joy to play with. He is at home in any field ~ as a soloist, ensemble player, or concert material. He is a splendid teacher, as many trumpet players can tell you. His musicianhip has awed practically every-one who has worked with him.

Conductors who have come to Chicago have told me that they sigh in relief when Danny is on the job. “No problem,” they say. “He sure makes my conducting job easy.”

His experience is vast. He’s always learning and the music he produces is top professional quality ~ and always joyous.

The list of people he has played and worked for would take reams of paper. Suffice to say he has played straight ahead jazz, and go to the next job ~ with a concert band like the South Bend Symphony or the Brass Band in Michigan.

Amazing ~ Danny is at home with Trumpet and music!! I’m looking forward to playing with him in the near future . . . . and it will be my pleasure.

Danny Barber recently performed as soloist with my band in the UK, the Black Dyke Brass Band.

Although we have a fine tradition of brass instrumentalist here in the UK, Danny knocked us all off of our seats.

Speaking for the entire band I can say that Danny’s playing was the highlight of a very hectic season. His con-summate artistry, breathtaking virtuosity and stratospheric pyrotechnics were truly astounding . . . .

For that Danny we all thank you.

Danny is a real inspiration as a performer and a gentleman.

Here’s to the next time . . . .

Cheers

Danny Barber was a fantastic clinician for my jazz ensemble and trumpet studio.

With his extensive background as one of the top trumpeters in the business, Danny brings a no nonsense, real world approach that students can learn a geat deal from. It was a pleasure to work with him.
