Hometown: Prospect, VA

Grade: College Junior

School: Longwood University

Shooting Discipline: Shotgun (Trap, Skeet, and Spoiling Clays); Smallbore Pistol; Air Pistol; Four-Position BB Gun

Shooting Experience: Growing up on a farm in Virginia, firearms have always been a part of my life. However, my “shooting experience” did not really start until I was 11 years old, when I joined the Appomattox 4-H Shooting Education Club. Through my years in the shooting club, 1 have competed in many local and state competitions such as: Central District Shoot (2015-2016), Spring Air (2009-2016), the State 4-H Shoot (2009-2015), Youth Hunter Education Challenge (2015) and the 4-H State Shotgun Championship (2010-2015). During my shooting career, I have had the greatest honor of attending two national competitions; one being the Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match (2011) held in Rogers, Arkansas, where my team and I competed. The second was the 4-H Nationals (2014) held in Grand Island, Nebraska in which four club members, including myself, went and represented the state of Virginia in the Smallbore Pistol discipline. My shooting experience does not stop at 4-H, however. I have competed in multiple A.I.M./ATA Trap Shooting championships as well as VSSA, where } became part of the 2014 All-State Junior Team, and VSCA competitions throughout my shooting years. Within the shooting program, I have obtained my Distinguished Expert award for Four Position BB Gun, Skeet and Trap. One thing to mention about the shooting sports is that it does not simply stop at shooting. For example, for the past three years, 1 have been actively involved in an organization known as the Virginia 4-H Shooting Education Ambassador Program. In this program, my job is to travel the state and promote the shooting sports. This program alone has helped tremendously with my public speaking and leadership skills. This can be said throughout my years in the 4-H Shooting Ed. Club. 1 have not only learned shooting skills, but life skills. Skills such as teamwork, self-motivation, problem solving, etc.

Hobbies: Playing Guitar, Softball, Hunting, Fishing, Hiking, Shooting

Future Plans: After I receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice from Longwood University, I plan to join the law enforcement community as a police officer with my goal to eventually end up working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The BNYSSA offers youth cash awards, camaraderie, travel, introductions to national shooting sports celebrities and career opportunities.
