Brethren:

Your lodge continues its tradition of providing financial support tocommunity groups and charities, as well as the masonic community. Athel-stane Lodge has also been active in providing participation in charitableevents, having run several Safety ID programs (formerly the Child ID Pro-gram), co-hosted two community blood drives in conjunction with UnitedHospice of Rockland and other community groups, and our annual participa-tion in the Hospice Tree of Life fundraiser during the 2008 holiday season.

Below is a list of Athelstane Lodge’s charitable donations to date. Please note that it does not include donations earmarked for the Shriner’sTransportation Unit and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, but not yet paid. In addi-tion it does not include the over $11,000.00 that brothers of our lodge havecontributed personally to the Masonic Brotherhood Fund. Please continueyour contributions, both through the lodge and personally. In these times, every little bit is greatly appreciated.

The Master’s Station

As this is my last Trestleboard of my term I want to thank the entireofficer line for their fine work and enthusiasm this year. During this year Iinstituted several changes to help streamline the meetings. I want to thankthe Lodge for accepting these changes. I want to especially thank BrotherRon Steiner, our Lodge Secretary, who in truth was the cornerstone to anysuccess we have enjoyed this year. As those who have recently gone before mewill attest, without Br. Ron as a mentor, being Master could easily devolveinto a yoke of rules and regulations. His guidance in all the nuances of beingMaster was invaluable. Br. Ron: I thank you for everything.

I also want to give special recognition to Br. Hank Morris who withthe assistance of Br. Martin Lindenberg and Br. Ron Steiner led the fu-neral service in West Palm Beach Florida for our departed brother MortonBaron.

SICKNESS & DISTRESS

Diane Gess, wife of our treasured Brother R:.W:. Marvin Gess, contin-ues to recuperate from knee replacement surgery. Unfortunately she isnow experiencing a problem with her vocal cords. Keep her in yourprayers.

We’ve also news from Sandy Weinberg, wife of our loved brother GlenWeinberg who is now at the Masonic Home in Utica. Glen’s condition iscontinuing to deteriorate. Please keep him in your prayers.

Sydelle Carmen, beloved wife of our good Brother Robert Carmenpassed from this life April 11 after a long, long battle and declininghealth. We grieve with our Brother and pray that Sydelle is at rest andthe family knows no further grief for a long time.

Our longtime Athelstane Brother, Worshipful Morton Baron, passedaway peacefully in Florida on Thursday evening, April 9, 2009, just shortof his 91st birthday. "Morty" Baron, as he was called, lived most of hislong life in Spring Valley. He was very active politically and was electedSupervisor of the Town of Ramapo. He served four - two year terms fromJanuary 1974 thru December 1981. For the past few years he lived inFlorida and had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Reminder: If you haven’t done so already, pleaseconsider getting the Trestleboard by emailrather than by regular mail. The savings will beallocated for Charity use. Please e-mail a notestating you want to participate. My e-mail is
