Brethren,
It seams that we are moving v e r y f a s t a n d h a v e n o t accomplished as much as hoped. Our Education Committee is doing a great job with still a lot to do (WE CAN USE YOUR HELP) it takes a commitment from several Brethren to be able to get the program in place for the future of Nellis.
Bro. “Hap” Hendricks & I met with the volunteer coordinator for the Veterans home in Boulder City and have several Ideas‟ on how we can help our hero‟s. We are looking at several areas we can be of service.
April is a busy month; we will have a list of events passed out at the meetings. I will not be announcing all events as previously done. Committee reports are to be brief and to the point.
I have had great support from the members and the line while traveling this year I thank all for that and look forward to having another great year. I remind the Brethren that your cable tow is to include your family, job, and then Nellis. May the Great Architect of the universe keep your life on the square and level.
Fraternally,
Mike

I can‟t say enough about how fast this year is flying by, before you know it table lodge will be here and then our annual fireworks booth. The fireworks booth is the major vehicle that funds our lodge for the year. We usually do ok except that we don‟t start turning a profit until the 3rd or 4th of July. The overhead is quit high. For this reason as soon as we‟re allowed we are going to start pre-sales. These pre-sales can make a huge cut into the overhead we have to pay. The amount of profit we make on the fireworks booth is a major part of our budget, so the better we do the more we can do. Please start talking the pre-sales up. Tell everyone you know that Nellis has fireworks for sale and all the charity work that Nellis spearheads in our community. Such as, „bikes for books‟, „child id‟, and the scholarships that we directly sponsor. Together we can accomplish great things.
One final thing, we are still trying to putting together degree teams. It is something that our lodge use to have and something that many lodges around the world still have. You can make a huge difference in the lodge by participating in a degree and yes there is memory work involved and yes that takes time and study, but there are also rewards. There is a great deal of personal pride and joy in participating in bringing new brothers to Masonic Light. There‟s a great deal of Lodge pride in giving wonderful theater to the new brothers and all those (especially from other outside Lodges) that are there to see it. Everyone has a cable tow, I know, but there is something for everyone. The more we have evolved the more fun we‟ll have.
God Bless,
SW.

Brothers, greetings from the South
Get ready; it is almost time for our yearly fun!
What is he talking about you ask? Well, it is our
fireworks booth … come one come all and join the
fun this year! We will be handing out a sign-up
sheet at our next Stated Meeting.
I stated in my last article that I was investigating
different papers and articles on Masonic conduct,
specifically how we Masons should act while
abroad in the world at large and most importantly
to each another. Well, here is one more thing to
think about what you would leave behind when
you‟re gone. Here is a poem I think meets the bill
and something we all should remember
End of The Day
Is anybody happier because you passed this way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over, and its‟ toiling time is through.
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that‟s slipping fast?
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead
Did you waste the day or use it Was it well or sorely spent
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that
God will say?
You have earned one more tomorrow by what you
did today.
Charles Wirth
Junior Warden

From the Sidelines Treasure Hunt
Find a quadrant in the Lodge. A quadrant is a device used to deter-mine the position of a star in the sky. A model of the device can be constructed with a protractor, a fisherman's sinker, and a drinking straw:
By aiming at the celestial object through the view finder, its altitude in degrees of arc is noted. If we also know the North-South meridian, we can measure the degrees of azimuth, or position over the horizon by means of a compass rose:
9
With these instruments it is possible to pick out and identify a pinpoint of light among the billions in the night sky. Over the ages records were compiled of the positions of the visible stars providing detailed sky maps.
(Answer: Section 5.330, Nevada Masonic Code, The emblem of a Past Master of a constituent Lodge of this jurisdiction is a pair of compasses extended to 60 degrees upon a quadrant only, which shall enclose the blazing sun.)
