LEt’s taLk about bootsWhen choosing boots theese are many things to think about such as, the type of ground, the position of the player etc. For example, if you are going to play on a soft ground your boots should have bladed studs fixed directly to the outsole, if you

are playing on a firm ground, you will need boots with short-bladed outsoles, and if you are playing on a hard ground then choose boots with many studs consisting of short low rubber studs that cover the whole sole.Similarly, then the defence

position need boots that are strong to protect the player while tackling. Strikrs need lighter boots for more speed.

The boots that the main players are wearing in FIFA’14 are

Aregentina’s captain and forward player chose Adidas F50 adiZero boots this year. One specil thing about his boots is the blue and white colour of his home country, Argentina.

The forward Dutch captain is wearing Adidas F50 Customs boots. The boots are designed for strikers rather than forward players but his boots don’t affect his performance at all.

Brazil’s star player played wearing Nike Hypervenom Phantom AG this year. These boots are designed for speed. He was ruled out of the World Cup after he broke his vertebra in the match against Columbia. Let’s hope he gets well soon!

tHomas muLLEr

The excellent German forward player is wearing the Adidas Adizero, which is designed for scoring goals!

bEforE tHE gamE bEgins a fEw important ruLEs must bE in CHECk. tHEy arE:

The Offside RuleIf the ball is passed to a player between the last defender and the goalkeeper of the defending team, the game is stopped and a free-kick is given.

Fouls When a player tackles, pushes or attacks the player of the opposite team when the ball is with him/her, the game is stopped by the referee and a free-kick is awarded to the other team.

Sometimes, players foul on purpose and a yellow card is given to the player who committed it, as a warning. If he/she does it again, they’re given a red card and are thrown out of the game.

A penalty kick is given if a foul is committed within the penalty area. The penalty kick is between a player (could be any) and the goalkeeper of the opposite team.

Throw insThis is the only time a player, other than the goalkeeper, can touch the ball with his/her hands when the ball

goes out of the pitch. It’s given to that player if a player of the other team kicks or takes the ball to restart the game.

The Goal KickThis is just like the throw in, except this time the ball has to pass the ‘goal line’ or if a goal has been scored. The goal line is the line that borders the pitch from the corners of the field to the goal posts. Goal kicks are usually taken by goalkeepers. The ball has to touch the player of the attacking team last.

The Corner KickThis time, if a player of the defending team touched the ball before passing through the goal line on their own side, instead of a goal kick, a corner kick is awarded to the attacking team.

The Goalkeeper The only one player who is allowed to touch the ball with his/her hands, but only in the penalty area. The goalkeeper guards the goal post throughout the game

DefendersThese players are put at the back, near the team’s own goal post, as to stop attacks by strikers. They can be half backs or full backs. Half backs are defenders who get to be part of the offence.

Mid-fieldersThis role is dubbed “the most tiring role in the game.” This is because it is the mid-fielder’s job to be part of both the offence and defence. They are responsible to “bridge” the ball from the defence to the offence. They go even further up the pitch and help to score goals as well as fall back to defend their ground.

StrikersStrikers are players who are only part of the offence. They get lots of support from defenders or mid-fielders and score goals for their team.

The Ball must be the right ballRound, made of leather, and of a certain size. Size five is the official FIFA size.

GearThe players have to wear the right things, such as the correct team jersey, shorts, stocking, shin guards (to protect the shin) and football shoes (cleats).

RefereesOne referee and two assistant side referees make sure the game is going alright and rules aren’t broken along with a fourth official on the touchline. They oversee substitutes and keep track of injury (added) time.

The length of the gameThe game is usually 90 minutes long, made up of two halves. Each half is 45 minutes long and the break between each half cannot be more than fifteen minutes. If a winner hasn’t been decided, the game goes to extra time, which is 30 minutes long and if the game is still undecided, the game goes to penalty shootouts to decide a winner.

The flower smiles and says, “He is my friend too!”

Vonvonia shyly asks, “Can he read? Can he sing and dance? Can your friend draw?”

The pomegranate flower replies, “Mishu is very nice! He can do everything!”

tips for CrEativE writingCreative writing is anything that allows you to use your imagination, express your thoughts, and share your feelings. It is the easiest and most interesting form of writing because you are free to use your own creativity and imagination. Still, there are some tips you can use to improve your creative writing skills. • Exercise your writing muscles.

Make a habit of writing every day, even if it is for just ten minutes. This will help to keep you in practice and keep the creative part of your brain active so you will not run out of ideas.

• Find out the time of the day you are most creative. Don’t be afraid to experiment. Write at all times of the day, and work out which time your brain is the most imaginative.

• Have fun. Use your own imagination as much as you want. Create your own characters, such as a monster you think of in your head. Once you have thought of a character, describe it/him/her in as much detail as you can. This will make your writing interesting and you will find that writing becomes much more enjoyable. Be it a dog or a cat, a rabbit or a fish, if you have a pet, you should treat it like a child! You want to know how to keep your pet happy? Spend a whole lot of time with them! Now what do you exactly have to do? Pets usually want the attention of their masters. And pets who get their master’s attention are usually very jolly and playful. If you have a dog, lay down your rug and throw a ball on it. He will surely understand your game and bring the ball back to you. You may think it is boring, but no once you start the game it gets impossible to stop and it makes your dog very happy too! If you have a cat then just take it out to your balcony, sit with it, and see what it does. You’ll be amazed to see their behavior. Pets usually need a lot of time and care; so if you are thinking of getting a pet, make sure to take some time out from your busy day for them! AnkA MAlik
