SITEMAPS

Page 10: Travel Client IA

SitemapsPusher has conducted a preliminary sitemap review for Sydney.com. The purpose of this is to ensure that if the navigation and faceted search are separated from each other across the site, the secondary navigation will be deep enough to accommodate the content.

Please see preliminary sitemaps on the following pages.

Pusher recommends a full sitemap review, redefining what appears in the navigation, faceted search and page content, to ensure it is consistent across the site. For example, the ‘Food and Wine” page in the menu on the right appears under Inner Sydney. This is not consistent across the site and Pusher recommends housing this page elsewhere.

There are currently two areas that are very deep - Destinations and Things To Do. Within the Destinations section, Things to Do currently appears in the faceted search and has submenu options (attractions, events, hires, tours, restaurants). These submenu options will not appear on the page if a secondary navigation at the top of the page is utilised instead. The user will instead have to click on Things To Do in the secondary navigation to access these options.

Homepage Search - Business events simpleWe have reviewed two options for refining business events 1. Simple version - (this page) business events is an option within the event type. This means that events will not be further refined. Would suggest that this is fine if the amount of content for business events is low. If the content is higher would recommend option 2 (next page).

Page 16: Travel Client IA

Homepage Search - Business events complexThis page shows the “Business events complex” option where users choose business OR leisure events from the homepage drop down. They can then refine the search further from the search results pages. This option is recommended if there are a lot of business events and they require further refinement. This option will be more complex in build. The business and leisure events are mutually exclusive as the “types” and “categories” for each are different. Thus, you cannot choose both business and leisure events, it needs to be one or the other.

The suggested “types” and “categories” for business events can be seen on the next page. Titles for Business and Leisure events need to be reviewed. Other options include work, play or work, holiday.

As the search may become quite compact Pusher has included an option for an extra widget at the bottom of the page. This widget would display the most popular events.

Search Results - Business events complexIf you have chosen to change from business to leisure event the page title becomes an active drop down menu where you can change to leisure events

This template also shows how regional and city events can be shown together in the destination search. The option on the left is for the Visitnsw.com site and shows how you can choose to include Sydney as an option in the destinations. This will show all events in Sydney. The same can be done for the Sydney.com site. It will show all regional events as well as the city events.

Event widgets - for destination pageExamples of various widgets have been provided. Business and Leisure events have been included as per the brief.

Option 1: this shows a variation on the current widget where holiday and business tabs have replaced the current date tabs on the widget. Whether this is appropriate depends partly on how much content is available. In particular, how many business events will there be in the various locations. This option is also suited to the “Business Events Complex” option.

Option 2: Option 2 is better suited to the “Business Events Simple” option. The widget is the same as the one currently in use but the copy includes the “type” of event it is.

Option 3: The events widget appears on destination pages as well as sub-destination pages. The subdestination pages can be for very limited areas, such as “Chinatown” for which there is not enough content to fill the widget. Pusher recommends creating a second widget for the subdestination pages that just features one event.

Megamenu - EventsThere are two options for the megamenu in the events section.

Option 1 is suitable if the Business Events Complex is chosen

Option 2 is suitable if the Business Events Simple is chosen.

Both options include the ability to choose events by type and date. There is one featured event. It is recommended that the image for this is larger than those in the current megamenu. 2
