Project overview Transport for NSW is upgrading Waratah Station to make it easier for everyone to access, including those with a disability, limited mobility, parents/carers with prams and customers with luggage.
Upcoming work – June long weekend From Saturday 8 June until Monday 10 June 2019 work will be undertaken to install a temporary footbridge (eastern end) and demolish existing stairs (western end), weather permitting.

Equipment used includes a mobile crane, piling rig, jack hammer, concrete truck, temporary lighting and generators.
To ensure the safety of our customers and staff, this work will be completed during a scheduled Sydney Trains trackwork weekend when no train services will be operating.
Pedestrian and traffic detours To safely install the new footbridge, some traffic and access changes will be in place during the works. Traffic control and signage will be in place to assist pedestrians and motorists with these temporary changes.
Detours will also be in place on Railway Terrace and the bus stop location will change. Please follow the signs and directions from traffic controllers to board/alight rail replacement bus services.
See the map overleaf for more detail.
Construction hours Work will be carried out continuously from 4am Saturday 8 J une until 10pm on Monday 10 June 2019.
The construction plant will be positioned as far away from residential areas as possible, with regular respite periods for any noisy works.
Ongoing June work Services identification, surveying and concrete works will be completed throughout June. Construction activities include:
• non-evasive excavation works for service identification • piling works for new lift shafts • concrete works for new lift shafts.
Equipment used includes piling drill rig, jack hammer, concrete truck, vacuum truck, surveying equipment.
Standard construction hours Standard working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm, Saturday. Notifications of any works occurring outside of these standard hours will be given prior to works commencing.
Temporary footbridge – ongoing changes to pedestrian access To allow for the construction of the new lifts and footbridge, a temporary footbridge will be installed at Waratah Station (eastern end of platforms). Once the temporary footbridge is installed, it will be the primary route for customers to access Waratah Station platforms, and will be in place for the duration of the project.
