About City of Redmond
Redmond is a city with a population of
over 60,000 in the Puget Sound Region
of Washington State and has been the
home to Microsoft’s headquarters since
1986. Redmond is a city that prides
itself on having a high quality of life
that welcomes diversity of people and
cultures. The city is also known for
having a wide variety of businesses,
taking care to protect the environment,
and providing a beautiful system of
parks, trails and activities to its
residents.
In 2011, as part of the City’s
strategic technology plan and
as a participant in Microsoft’s
Technology Adoption Partner
program, the City became a
flagship for the deployment of
Dynamics AX in the Public
Sector.
Since that time, HSO has been
chosen by the City of Redmond
to support its Microsoft
Dynamics environment and
provide transformational ERP
services as the City plans its
migration to Microsoft
Dynamics 365.

A Flagship for Microsoft Dynamics

For City of Redmond, digital
transformation has been a
priority for some time. And, like
many agencies this year, the
COVID-19 crisis is only
accelerating those plans.
In the Spring of 2020, the City
made the decision to consult
HSO to deliver a prototype
environment in D365. This
project is planned to run from
May – September 2020, with
the goal being a configured
City of Redmond environment,
with some City master data
loaded.
In May and June, HSO and the
City worked together to validate
the City's business requirements,
initiate development of test
scenarios, and configure a
preliminary prototype
environment. This phase
completed with delivery of a
pilot, where the HSO consulting
team presented the primary
configurations and business
processes by walking through
sample business scenarios. HSO
has now begun to configure the
City’s sandbox environment to
mirror the demo environment
while focusing on the City’s
configurations and master data.
Reimagining Redmond in 2020 2020
Throughout the coming weeks,
HSO consultants and the
Redmond team will collaborate
on the D365 configuration, data
migration, and the development
of further testing scenarios with
hands-on training sessions. The
product of these activities will
be a second conference room
pilot, to be executed in
September, showing the City’s
test scenarios executed in their
own sandbox environment.
It is with great hope that City
staff will execute these scenarios
and fully adopt the new
Microsoft platform by 2021.
