    Profession of Faith Nicene C

Christian, in whom do you trust?I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things

visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father

before all worlds:God of God,Light of Light, very God of very God;begotten, not made,

being of one substance with the Father,by Whom all things were made;Who, for us men and for our salvation,

    came down from heaven,and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,and was made man,and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;He suffered and was buried;and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures,and ascended into heaven,and sits on the right hand of the Father;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;Whose kingdom shall have no end.And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life,

Who proceeds from the Father and the Son,Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified,Who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe in one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen!

    2 Corinthians 3.74.187

Now if the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone, came with such glory that the Israelites could not gaze atMoses' face because of its glory, which was being brought to an end,

8will not the ministry of the Spirit have even

    more glory?9

For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, the ministry of righteousness must far exceedin glory.

10Indeed, in this case, what once had glory has come to have no glory at all, because of the glory that

    surpasses it.11

For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have g12

Since we have such a hope, we are very bold,13

not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that theIsraelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end.

14But their minds were hardened. Fo

this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it takenaway.

15Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts.

16But when one turns to the Lord, the

    is removed.17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.18

And we all, withunveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory

another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 4:1 Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, wenot lose heart.

2But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tampe

with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in sight of God.

3And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing.

4In their case the god o

this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory ofChrist, who is the image of God.

5For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves a

    your servants for Jesus' sake.6

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to givethe light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7But we have this treasure in jars of clay,

show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.8

    We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;perplexed, but not driven to despair;

    9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

    10always carry

in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.11

For we who live arealways being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesSo death is at work in us, but life in you.

13Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written

believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak,14

knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus willraise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.

15For it is all for your sake, so that as grace exten

to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.16

So we do not lose heart. Though ourouter nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day.

17For this slight momentary affliction i

preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,18

as we look not to the things that are seen but tthe things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

    Mark 8.229.1322

And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him.23

And htook the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands ohim, he asked him, "Do you see anything?"

24And he looked up and said, "I see men, but they look like trees, walki

25Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everyth

    clearly.26

And he sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village."27

And Jesus went on with his discip

to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"

    28

And ttold him, "John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets."29

And he asked them, "But whdo you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Christ."

30And he strictly charged them to tell no one abou

    him.31

And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and tchief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.

32And he said this plainly. And Peter too

him aside and began to rebuke him.33

But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, "Get behindme, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man."

    34And he called to him

the crowd with his disciples and said to them, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up hiscross and follow me.

35For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the

    gospel's will save it.36

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?37

For what can a mgive in return for his life?

38For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generatio

him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." 9:1 And hesaid to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom God after it has come with power."

2And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led the

up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, 3 and his clothes became radiant, intensewhite, as no one on earth could bleach them.

4And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking

    with Jesus.5

And Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and ofor Moses and one for Elijah."

6For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified.

    7And a cloud overshadowe

them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved Son; listen to him."8

And suddenly, looking around, tno longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only.

9And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them t

tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.10

So they kept the matter to themselvquestioning what this rising from the dead might mean.

11And they asked him, "Why do the scribes say that first El

    must come?"12

And he said to them, "Elijah does come first to restore all things. And how is it written of the Son ofMan that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

13But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they

did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him."
