    *Please note that participants cannot bring a used Test Administrator Guide to the training; every participant must have an unused and complete copy of the most current version.

    Required and Recommended Equipment Classroom or conference setting (maximum 25 people per session) LCD projector and screen Computer connected to LCD projector External PC speakers or the capacity to play a VHS or DVD through a room audio system or TV/VCR or DVD player with functional remote control and external speakers (if PC speakers or

    room audio system are unavailable) One computer (PC preferred) for every two participants* Board or flip chart and markers Overhead projector (optional) Pens or pencils and paper for each participant (optional)

    *Trainers can request sample copies of the print based version of BEST Plus to use during the practice portion of the workshop for those participants who will be using the print based version in their programs. Requests for practice copies must be made at least 10 days in advance of the training workshop.

    Important Technology Note Prior to the workshop, it is essential that trainers be in touch personally with the onsite technology person who is responsible for setting up the computer lab. The technology person must understand that the workshop requires the following:

    Running BEST Plus software off the computer Administrative access to the system folder on each computer to install the BEST Plus software Power User Rights (for Windows XP) to run the BEST Plus software Computers not be set to time out to a locked screen IDs and passwords to be distributed to trainer and/or participants for computer login Additional setup if the computers are using the Windows Vista, Windows 7, or more recent

    operating systems (See Frequently Asked Questions on the BEST Plus Web site at www.cal.org/aea

    Participants are encouraged to bring the laptops they will be using for testing. If participants are bringing their own laptops, setup instructions should be communicated at least 5 days prior to the day of the training, and on the spot troubleshooting may be needed. Questions regarding computer set up from the training site or from the participants can be directed to CAL.
