Parts Searchlooks at only parts manuals (parts identificationdocuments). It will locate parts consists matching a part number or a keyword entered into the fill-in box.

After clicking the Searchbutton, the Search Results page displays the links to parts consists pages that the search found.

No document links are displayed if the entered text was not found. (note in this example that WINGis part of the word SWINGfrom the previous example; but, was not found)

To search again, use 1 of 3 links: Return to Main Menu(365B Excavator 9TZ), Want to search again?, or use the Go Todrop-down menu to return to the Main Menu.



Parts Searchwill find a partial word or number when a trailing asterisk ( * ) is entered to replace the end of a keyword.

In this example, start*entered into the fill-in search box would return the words start, started, startingand any other words with the first 5 characters of s-t-a-r-t.



In this example, the Keyword phrase entered into the fill-in box was swing bearing; Parts Search found those two words close to each other (not separated by more than one word)within a parts consists and in a different order.

This ‘proximity’ search feature is only available within Parts Search.

Basic Searchhas 3 ways to expand or restrict its search.First:Select the Information Types. If no typesare selected, SIS will select all types which increases search time and number of results.

Basic Search only displays the Info. Typesavailable for the indicated Model.Hold the Ctrl key down to select multiple types.

Second:Enter aPart No. And/ Orany Phraseor single word. ‘And’ means each text item in the box above and below, in any order; ‘Or’means either item in the text box above or below.

A multi-word Phrasein one fill-in box must be in the same order as those words in the document. A trailing asterisk may be used in either Phrasebox.



Third:Use the drop-down boxes in the Publication Datesto set the time frame of when a document may have been published.

Click the Searchbutton to initiate a Basic Search.

A search without a Part No.or Phrasereturns all selected Information Typesfor the indicated Modeland Dates.



The search results twisteesin this example have been expanded.A gray line within Service Magazineindicates the documents above the line apply specifically to the model ( Z) being searched and those below the line are more generic to many models.

This gray line is utilized for several information types.

Click one of the Resultslinks to display any multiple Sectionlinks; a Sectionlink may also have multiple links within Information Available.



Basic Search permits limited searches without a serial number prefix. Searches will be limited to one Information Type and may take longer.

For this type of search use Advanced Full Text Search. The Go to Advanced Searchbutton is a link to this more flexible search method.

Advanced Full Text Searchis very similar to the Basic Searchwith additional options.

Product ID is Not Required to initiate a search.

If a Part No.or Phraseis known to appear in a document’s title, select Search Only Titlesto return quicker results than Search All Text.

Advanced Full Text Searchallows searching using 1, 2 or 3 Serial Number Prefixesor without any prefix.

A search may also be by Sales Model No.; a trailing asterisk allows expanding the range of Sales Models(i.e. D10*would search D10, D10N and D10R series; conversely, entering D10would not include D10N or D10R).



Advanced Full Text Searchcan search using the four digit Component Codeof SMCS(Service Management Control System); a trailing asterisk allows expanding the range of codes(i.e. 310*would return links to documents referencing any codefrom 3100 through 3109).

When Advanced Full Text Searchmust conduct a broad search, the selection of information typesis restricted.Without a Sales Model No.or a Serial Number Prefix, or with a trailing asterisk after the Sales Model, only Parts Identificationor up to 5 other Typescan be selected for each search request.
