Collections SteelThe Skagen Denmark Steel Collection shines with style. Each piece is design-driven with elegance and contemporary flair. Skagen’s foundation was built on the signature mesh band featured in this collection. Bands come in mesh, links or leather with cases made of stainless steel in colors of silver, black, grey, gold, rose gold or brown. All Skagen Denmark Steel Collection watches have a water resistance up to 5ATM.

Materials Steel Skagen Designs uses stainless steel materials that are hypo-allergenic nickel safe. Stainless steel is an alloy compound that is ‘nickel safe’, not nickel free. Skagen manufacturers are held to the EU standard of 0.5ug. Mesh bands are made of Stainless Steel, using 316L and 304L. Many Skagen Denmark watches are ion plated to achieve a desirable color. Ion plating does not contain any nickel during the production process. The Stainless steel material is well known for its long lasting durability and non-corrosive properties and it is used across many industries.
Titanium SkagenDenmarkTitaniumwatchesusetitaniumforthewatchcaseandlinkbands.Generally,Skagenwatchesaremadewithcommerciallypuretitanium(GradeTA2)duetoitsspeciallookandfeel.Titaniumishypo-allergenic and highly corrosion resistant. Some Titanium watches are ion plated in order to provide a color other than gun-metal gray. All have the strength and light weight of titanium and are nickel safe.
Ceramic Skagen Denmark uses ceramic materials that are hypo-allergenic. Ceramic is an inorganic, nonmetallic material formed by the action of heat; it is a high-tech material that is scratch resistant. Although ceramic is strong and scratch resistant, it can chip, so it must be handled with care and stored properly.

Ion Plating In line with our mission to designing unique, yet attainable products, we incorporate distinctive color offerings into our watches, and we do so with an extremely reliable and established process called ion plating(referredtoasIPinourmarketingmaterials).Ionplatingisoneofthemostadvancedsurfacefinishing processes for watches. In older, more traditional methods the coating on the surface of the case or straps can be rubbed off easily. Ion plating is made by the formation of chemical gases which leads to more durability, more wear resistance, and can also offer better color. Using different gas will form different colors:
IPG(goldcolor)=TiN(Titaniumnitride) IPG(lightgold)=ZrN(Zirconiumnitride) IPviolet/brown=TiAlN(Titaniumaluminumnitride)IPgrey(gunmetalorcharcoal)=TiC(Titaniumcarbonate) IPblack=TiAlCN(Titaniumaluminumcarbonnitride) IProsegold=TiN+Cu(Titaniumnitride+Copper) IPplatinum=Pt(Platinum)
The longevity of ion plating as abrasion tests have proven:
•TheAbrasiontestforIPBrown,andGreycanpass48hours;theindustryassumesthisisequivalentwith color lasting two years; after two years, the plating will not simply come off; the watch will start to sufferdiscolorationdaily(youwillstartseeingthesilverfromunderneath).
•TheAbrasiontestforIPBlack,Gold,PlatinumandRosegoldpasses24hours;theindustryassumesthis is equivalent with color lasting one year.
Skagen Denmark offers the most advanced means for color-plated watches, allowing us to offer our customers the highest level of value when purchasing a Skagen watch.

Movements Skagen Denmark watches use a variety of movements in the Steel and Titanium Collections. The most commonlyusedisJapanesequartzmovementandSwisspartsquartz.Japanesequartzmovementsareknown for their precision in the watch industry as extremely reliable timekeepers. Swiss parts quartz movement is movement blanks that have been manufactured in Switzerland but assembled abroad. Swiss parts indication only appears on the movement not on the dial or case. A quartz movement is powered by a battery and is called quartz because the battery works in combination with a quartz crystal. The greatest advantage of a quartz watch is that the movements needs no winding to keep it working, in addition quartz movement watches require fewer time adjustments and less maintenance than mechanical watches.
AJapaneseautomaticmovementisamechanicalmovementwithaselfwindingdesign.Anautomaticwatch runs off the energy produced by motion which winds the spring. The movement features a rotor that spins when the watch is in motion. The mechanism transfers the energy from the spinning rotor to the main springofthewindingsystem.Onedrawbacktoautomaticmovementsisthattheycangainorloseafewminutespermonth.Ownersshouldcheckthesewatchesonceortwiceamonthtoadjustthetime.
BatteriesThe battery life for the White Label watches varies from 2-5 years, with the average being 4 years. The battery life of a watch is dependent upon the complications of the watch, a simple 2-hand function watch-life will be longer than that of a multi-function watch; the more functions a watch offers the less the battery life will be. DialsIn general a Skagen Denmark watch dial is made of brass, which is the typical material found in watch dials and considered to be high quality. There are multiple dial finishes available in the Skagen line, these finishes are done on top of the brass dial; current finishes available in the Skagen Denmark line include sunray dials, shiny dials, brushed dials, Mother-of-Pearl dials, carbon fiber dials and gemstone dials.
A sunray and shiny dial finish both give off a nice shine to the color of the dial, with the sunray graduating out from the center of the dial while the shiny dial is consistent throughout. The brushed finish dials offer a more matte look; the dial can be brushed in different directions which is done to best fit with the overall design of the watch; the dial can be vertically brushed, circular brushed, or an irregular brushing which is not as uniformly done, however still giving off a nice matte appearance. Dials can also be sandblasted for a nice matte look. Dials are also given accents using chrome labeling for indexes and outlines, applying Swarovski Elements, or coated with enamel; there are many ways to make a watch dial unique. Mother-of-Pearl dials are the milky interior shell of a mollusk which is sliced thin to use on a watch dial, these dials are more expensive since Mother-of-Pearl is considered a wild animal product and has special importing requirements. Carbon Fiber is a material made with carbon filament threads, these threads are comprised of several thousand seven-micron carbon fibers held together by resin. The atomic structure of carbon fiber is similar to that of graphite, consisting of sheets of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal pattern, and is an extremely lightweight and resilient material. Carbon fiber is currently used on our watch dials in our Titanium men’s collection. The gemstone material used in some of the watches is manmade. The melting of glass creates an explosion of metallic crystal accents which results in the unique glittering appearance of these dials
SkagenDenmarkusesNewliteC1luminousmaterialonsomemodelswhichcanlastupto30minutes.The luminous appears white inlayed in hands and indexes and glows in green when activated. The luminous material needs to absorb natural or artificial light for a period of time in order to activate it, then gives off light at a rate lower than that of the absorbed light source. Many Skagen Denmark models use luminous indexes and hands to provide enhanced readability at night or in dark spaces.

Instructions and Information Watch Band StandardsSkagen Denmark watches are available with several types of watch bands to accommodate most customer preferences, which include signature mesh bands, metal or ceramic bracelets/ links, leather straps and silicone straps. The watch band is a very important feature of a watch – it not only reflects the designofthewatch, itmostimportantlyreflectsthecommitmenttoqualityofthewatchcompany.Ofallthefeatures a watch can offer, none of them will matter if your watch does not fit properly, is uncomfortable to wear, or worst of all falls off and is lost.
As always, Skagen is educated on this topic and adheres to the highest of standards in regards to the tolerances of our band fits and attachments. Below is an illustration which explains the measurement used for our minimum length and maximum length specifications; you will note the measurements are taken from the inner diameter of a buckled watch, and the specifications vary by strap-type.
Minimum length refers to the inside perimeter of the buckled watch in the first hole position. Maximum length refers to the inside perimeter of the buckled watch in the last hole position.
Minimum length refers to the inside perimeter of the closed watch on the first adjustable rill. Maximum length refers to the inside perimeter of the closed watch on the last adjustable rill.
Minimum length refers to the inside perimeter of the buckled watch without adjustable links. Maximum length refers to the inside perimeter of the buckled watch with all adjustable links.

Blemishes include: polish lines, grain boundaries, naturals, scratches, nicks, pits and chips.
Carat
Carat weight varies between 0.054-0.06 depending on the model.
Cut
Cut refers to the facet proportions on the surface of a diamond. More than any other factor, the precision of these facets determines the beauty of the stone. All Skagen diamonds are round, single cut.
Color
The colored tinting found in most diamonds is caused by minute impurities within the stone. The untrained eye is incapable of making the color evaluations that can affect the value of a stone. Skagen watches use H-I,nearcolorless,diamonds.
Settings
Three different types of setting are used for diamonds placed on the dial: prong, UP and case setting.
Freshwater Cultured Pearls Pearls are organic gems, created when an oyster covers a foreign object with beautiful layers of nacre. Thequalityofpearlsisjudgedbytheirorientandluster.Orientisthesoftiridescencecausedbytherefraction of light through the layers of nacre. Luster is the reflectivity and shine on the surface of the pearl. Combined, these two qualities are what give our pearls their beautiful sheen and polish.
Materials
Movements Swiss Made quartz movements showcase a high level of craftsmanship in the Black Label Collection, ensuring only the utmost in quality. The movement components are assembled in Switzerland, and no facet of the movement leaves the factory without proper supervision and approval. A Swiss Made quartz movement combines the movement with the chassis and jewels of a mechanical watch to form the most accurate and most durable quartz watches. To reduce friction in Swiss Made quartz movements synthetic gem crystals are placed in the spaces of the movement; referred to as jewels. Using jewels rather than metal minimizes temperature changes and holds lubricant longer resulting in the high level of durability and accuracy these movements provide.

Skagen Denmark using highly reputable battery brands including Sony, Energizer, Maxell, and Renata.

DialsIn general a Skagen Denmark watch dial is made of brass, which is the typical material found in watch dials and considered to be high quality. There are multiple dial finishes available in the Skagen® line, these finishes are done on top of the brass dial; current finishes available in the Skagen Denmark line include sunray dials, shiny dials, brushed dials, Mother-of-Pearl dials and gemstone dials.
LuminousSkagenDenmarkusesNewliteC1luminousmaterialonsomemodelswhichcanlastupto30minutes.The luminous appears white inlayed in hands and indexes and glows in green when activated. The luminous material needs to absorb natural or artificial light for a period of time in order to activate it, then gives off light at a rate lower than that of the absorbed light source. Many Skagen Denmark models use luminous indexes and hands to provide enhanced readability at night or in dark spaces.
SapphireCoatedSuperHardenedCrystalsThe super hardened crystals are imported from Switzerland, using a confidential hardening formula to increase the durability and reliability of the crystal. In addition, the Black Label collection crystals offer a sapphire coating, improving the scratch resistance of the glass.

Skagen suggests the following solutions for cleaning metal and crystal surfaces:
3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water.
4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water.
These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces.
*Do not use soap products, soap will leave residue behind when dry.
To clean the case and crystal:
Moistenasoftclothwithoneoftheabovesolutions.Gentlywipethecaseandcrystalclean. Becarefulnottoputtoomuchstressonthecrystalasyouclean.NEVERimmerseorsoakthecase/crystal portion of the watch, regardless of water resistance rating. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.
To clean the band or strap:
Metal watchbands
Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it into the soiled portion of the band. For more intricate mesh bands, you may want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to cover the case of the watch during this process so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you may want to bring it to a jeweler for a professional cleaning.
Leatherwatchstraps(TopGrain)
Top grain leather can be characterized by its smooth, somewhat shiny appearance. To clean this type of leather, follow the same procedure as with the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, using water only. You may want to use leather conditioner or a small amount of hand lotion to keep the leather supple over time. Top grain leather may develop a milky “haze” if left alone for extended periods. This can simply be wiped away or removed with leather conditioner.
Leatherwatchstraps(nubuck)
This is essentially full grain leather with the top layer shaved off, leaving a flat, smooth finish. A product called a “nubuck eraser” can be found at better shoe repair shops. It will help to remove most light stains and debris from nubuck.
Satin watchstraps
Dampen a cloth with cold water and blot the strap in a downward motion, dry the strap immediately with a hand towel. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may stain the satin.
Ceramic watchbands
Wipe the ceramic with a water soaked damp cloth, and then dry it with a lint-free cloth.

WaterResistanceThere are several features that help make a watch water-resistant. The most important is the gaskets, or “0” rings-made of rubber, nylon or Teflon which form watertight seals at the joints where the crystal, case back and crown meet the watch case. If the watch is a chronograph, the chronograph pushers will also have gaskets. In addition, water-resistant watch cases are lined with a sealant, applied in the form of a quick-hardening liquid, which helps keep water out.
The thickness and material of the case is also a factor in determining whether a watch can safely be worn underwater. The case must be sturdy enough to withstand pressure without caving in. In general, this means a steel or titanium case.
A screw-in case back, as opposed to one that pushes in, also contributes to a watch’s water resistance. A screw-in crown, a feature of many divers’ watches, helps prevent water getting into the case through the watch-stem hole. When it is screwed down it forms a water tight seal much like the seal between a jar and its lid.
The different levels of water resistance as expressed in meters are only theoretical. They refer to the depth at which a watch will keep out water if both watch and the water are perfectly motionless. These conditions, of course, are never met in the real swimmer’s or diver’s world. In real life, the movement of the wearer’s arm through the water increases the pressure on the watch dramatically; so it can’t be worn to the depths indicated by lab testing machines.
Most Skagen® Watches are rated at 3ATM for water resistance. What does this rating mean?
ATM or “atmospheres” is the amount of pressure a watch can withstand before leaking. A 3ATM watch will withstand pressures equivalent to about 30 meters, or 100ft under water. It is important to note that thisisameasureofpressureNOTdepth.Forexample, thepressurefromthewatercomingfromtheshower hitting the seals of the watch is far greater than 3 atmospheres.
The following are “real world” examples of the water resistance of each rating:
3ATMWaterresistantto30meters(100feet).Willwithstandsplashesofwaterorrainbutshould not be worn while swimming or diving.
5ATMWatertestedto50meters(165feet).Suitableforshoweringorswimminginshallowwater.
NotWaterResistant–YouwillknowthatyourSkagenDenmarkwatchisNOTwaterresistant if there are no markings on the watch.
You can find the level of water resistance of your watch by referring to the case back.

HowtoCleanSkagenJewellery
The safest way to clean stainless steel jewellery is to simply use a dry soft cloth. Wipe the jewellery clean after wearing it and keep it in a cool, dry place. Each piece of jewellery should be placed in an individual bag or pouch to avoid scratches. Avoid using strong detergents or chemicals and never use a toothbrush as it may result in small surface scratches. For stubborn grime, you may use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap. To dry your jewellery piece, buff with a dry soft cloth.

FrequentlyAskedQuestionsQ. Why is Skagen Jewellery made with Stainless Steel?
A. StrategicReason
Skagen is well known for its use of natural materials such as stainless steel and titanium. Stainless steel is well known for its durable qualities and it is used in the construction of surgical equipment and household appliances. Today, this hard material is used in fashion jewellery to provide sophisticated pieces that last a lifetime. Corrosion resistant, hypo-allergenic and nickel safe, the stainless steel jewellery transcends time, without changing color like sterling silver. Stainless Steel is cost effective if we are to compare it with precious metals. Stainless Steel can be ion plated in many well-known Skagen® fashionable colors, resulting in elegant matching accessories.
Additional information about Stainless Steel:
The most oxidization resistant steels are 300 series steels and are mostly used for material implants aswellasforbodyjewellery.Ourjewelleryusesahighgradesteelfrom300seriescalledGrade316L. All of our plated products are colored through Ion Plating technology, one of the most advanced surface coloring processes in the trade.
Q. How difficult is it to produce the jewellery with such material in organic shape?
A. It is extremely difficult to create an organic outlook with such a hard material as stainless steel. Many manufacturers are specialized in geometrical shapes that are very popular in the European market. Some jewellery is made by casting, to ensure the desired outlook.
Q. Where does the design concept come from?
A. The jewellery design inspiration, like any other design object from Skagen, takes its roots from the Skagen town of Denmark. Each collection uses inspiration from the seas and the shores of Skagen and from the many years of timepiece design: mesh inspired concepts, smooth surfaces, and elegant but simple designs.
Q. How can you tell if a pearl is real or immitation?
A. Cultured and natural pearls can be distinguished from imitation ones by a very simple test. Take the pearlandrubit(gently!)againsttheedgeofatooth.Culturedandnaturalpearlswillfeelslightlyrough, like fine sandpaper, because of the texture of natural nacre. Imitations will feel as smooth as glass because the surface is moulded or painted on a smooth bead.

MaterialsFrame Materials Titanium Select models from the Skagen Denmark line of sunglasses use titanium for the frame
due to its strength, lightness and durability. Some Skagen sunglasses use a beta-titanium alloy that provides flexibility for the frame. Titanium is hypoallergenic, nickel-safe and highly corrosion resistant. Select frames are plated in order to provide a color other than gun-metal gray.
Steel A corrosion resistant alloy that is resistant to oxidation. Stainless steel frames are durable, strong and hypo-allergenic. Select Skagen Denmark sunglasses use stainless steel materials that are hypo-allergenic nickel safe. Stainless steel is an alloy compound that is ‘nickel safe’, not nickel free.
Acetate An epoxy resin material that has softness, high color clarity and wide color capabilities. Acetate frames are also flexible, impact resistant and resistant to stress cracking.

Lens Materials Polycarbonate A remarkably strong plastic lens material that weighs the least and is the most impact
resistant. This lens is also thinner than other conventional plastic lenses and is usually the lightest, most comfortable lenses. Polycarbonate material is manufactured using an enormous amount of pressure to compress the raw material. The resulting product holds up very well under impact because it is flexible and gives slightly under pressure without breaking. Because less of the polycarbonate lens material is needed to provide the same amount of visual correction that a traditional plastic lens offers, polycarbonate lenses are thinner and lighter in weight.

Polarized Sunglass Lenses
Polarized sunglass lenses fight glare by minimizing the passage of undesirable light to the eye. Polarized lenses are used in sunglasses to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as the surface of water, the hood of a car, fog, rain, snow or early morning dew, glare is also a problem on roads and highways. Polarized lenses accomplishthisfeatthroughaprocesscalledpolarization, muchlikeaVenetianblindcontrolssunlightthroughawindow.
Sunlight itself is not polarized; light from the sun will either be absorbed or reflected horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Sunlight bouncing off a horizontal surface will strike the viewer’s eyes at a similar angle. This means the glare from the surface of the water or the road or the car hood will be strong. Polarized lenses have a laminated surface containing vertical stripes made up of iodine crystals. These stripes only allow vertically-polarized light toenterthewearer’seyes.Glareiseliminatedbecausethehorizontally-polarizedlightwavescannotbypassthepolarized filter. The result is sharper vision, more vivid color and greater depth perception.
VisiblelighttravelinginvariousdirectionsfromthesunisfilteredbythePolarizedLensandenterstheeyewith comfort. Scattered light hits a reflective surface, changes to concentrated glare, being blocked by the Polarized Lens. Bounce-back glare that attacks from the sides and from behind you is absorbed by lenses with anti-reflective coating so that the glare does not bounce back into your eyes. Sunglasses - 39
Anti-Reflective Coating
Bounce back glare is caused by light from the side and behind that is reflected off the inside of the lens into the eye. This creates ghost images that can be distracting and cause strain to the eye. Anti-reflective coatingsareappliedtothebacksurfaceofthelens(thesurfacenearesttheeye).Coatingthebacksidehelps reduce eye fatigue by obstructing reflections of light that enter from behind and bounce off the inside the surface of your sunglasses lens into your eye.

Choosing a Style The main thing to bear in mind is the overall shape of your face. You may also like to consider what works best with your skin tone and hair coloring when choosing the colors of frames.
Finding the Shape of Your Face
Face shapes are categorized in terms of the whole facial shape, from the forehead in relation to the chin. Decide whether your faced is predominantly oval, round, diamond, square, oblong or triangular.
GettingtheRightFit
The sunglass size should be in proportion with the face size. This means that smaller sunglasses are best for smaller faces; larger sunglasses for larger faces. The most flattering frames should contrast with your facial shape, that is, be the opposite of the shape of the face.
These tips can help you to choose your right frame but they do not need to be taken as rules…
Ovalface
Almost any style works for oval face. Experiment with the latest looks, such as wrap-arounds or shields. Square shaped frames with gently rounded edges and higher temples also look good on an oval face. Frame suggestions: Any frame shape
Roundface
Frames should make the face appear longer and thinner. In general, look for frames equal to or slightly wider than the broadest part of the face. Minimize the curves and add definition with soft, angular,rectangularstylesordoublebrowstyles.Highertempleswillcreatealongerprofile.Sunglasses with brow bars also pull the eye upward, making the face appear longer.
Frame suggestions: Wider frames with angular / rectangular styles
Diamond shape
Thisfaceshapehaswideorhighcheekboneswithanarrowforeheadandchin.Ovalsunglasseswillsoften the contour of the face, although softly curved square frames will work as well. Make sure the styles are no wider than the top of the cheekbones.

Square face
Thisfaceshapeconsistsofastrongjawline, abroadforeheadandwidecheekbones.Reducetheangles with soft, curvy styles that will give the face some definition such as cat-eye styles. The classic oval frame shape also works well for this face shape.
Framesuggestions:Oval,Round,CatEyes
Oblongface
Widen and shorten the face with sunglass styles that do not extend beyond the widest part of the face.Roundorsquareshapeswilllookgreatonthisface.Framesshouldcoverasmuchofthecenterof the face as possible in order to minimize the length.
Framesuggestions:Round,Square
42 - Sunglasses
Triangle shape
This face has a narrow jaw and a wide forehead. Soften the lower portion of the face by accenting the eye area. Styles such as cat- eyes should angle outward at the top corner and be wide enough to balance the jaw line. You can also try metal frames with rimless bottoms.
Frame suggestions: Frames with a Straight Top Line, Cat Eyes
Frame Style and ShapesAviator Style Each lens is straight on top and has a tear drop shape with a diagonal cut from the
nose down to the cheeks.
Shield Design Shield designed sunglasses have one large sunglass lens that is mounted on the front of the frame and extends from one side of the wearer’s face to the other.

The greatest advantage of a quartz movement is that the movement needs no winding to keep it working. In addition quartz movements require fewer time adjustments and less maintenance than mechanical movements. The benefit of a quiet sweep second hand is that it is very quiet when it runs, it is a continuous movement that does not produce a ticking sound.

Additional InformationWarrantyIn the AMERICAS and APAC, Skagen Denmark Clocks are guaranteed under a limitedwarranty, for one year from the date of purchase, against mechanical failure in workmanship and/or materials.
Regarding EMEA markets, the consumer purchasing law protects against manufacturingdefects 2 years from the date of purchase.
HowtoCleanSkagenClocksThe best way to clean the wall clocks is to use a soft non-abrasive dry cloth for removing any dust that may accumulate. For stubborn dirt or spots, a glass cleaner can be used on the clock’s glass lens. It is suggested to spray the cleaner directly onto a soft cloth and then wipe the lens. Then use a dry soft cloth to remove all cleaning residue to ensure no smudges on the lens.
