Overview: This SQA approved Training Programme has been designed for qualified electricians looking to update their BS 7671 training. This course is suitable for electricians who are responsible for ensuring that electrical installations are installed and commissioned in accordance with current requirements. Successful completion of the course is accepted by the SJIB for Grade card renewal. Note: The course does not cover the detailed requirements for inspection and testing of new or existing installations.

Aim: The aim of this programme is to provide detailed information on the particular requirements of BS 7671:2018. To complete this course successfully the participant must be able to demonstrate knowledge of this standard by successful completion of the course assessments.

Content: This programme is made up of two parts. There is a short online course* on ‘Introduction

to BS 7671’ that must be completed and delegates also need to successfully complete a

one-day training course on Requirements for Electrical Installations to BS 7671:2018.

*If you would prefer not to complete the online element of the 218 course then, courses 214

or 208 would be suitable alternatives.

Introduction to BS 7671 (Online Course)

The online course provides a basic introduction to BS 7671. The aim of the course is to

ensure that delegates can successfully navigate and find key information from the IET Wiring

Regulations (BS 7671). It is estimated that this introductory course will only take a few

hours to complete, and can be completed in stages.

To complete the online course, candidates will need access to Requirements for Electrical

Installations (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) BS 7671:2018.

The online component complements the material that will be covered on the day-training

course. To get the most from the training day we recommend that delegates complete the

online course element before attending the day- course. However, delegates can complete

the online element up to one-month after the training course date.
