Lesson Plan
Title of Workshop: Importance of Team Building
Learning Objectives:
After completing the workshop, the participants will be able to: Objective 1: Upon completion of the training program, trainees must be able to recognize when team building is needed in a business environment and identify at least three strategies used to implement it. Objective 2: Upon completion of the training program, trainees must be able to discuss at least three benefits of team building in a workplace setting. Trainees will demonstrate this by discussing the benefits of team building with their peers within a company.

Introduction: Time: 2 minutes
Welcome to the Importance of Team Building training session hosted by Amanda Slaney, Sydney Naccarato, Jamie Duff and Tawnya Foster. What does team building mean to us? (insert team building video) In this 50-minute online training workshop we will teach you how to recognize when team building is needed, strategies to implement team building, the benefits of team building and why team building is important. The training objectives as stated above will be outlined throughout this training workshop. You will complete a pre-test prior to starting this workshop, and completing a post-test once you have finished the training workshop.

Warm-up/Connection Activity Time: 4 minutes
For our first warm up/connection activity we will be doing an icebreaker. Introduce yourself
Using the google forms discussion board, introduce yourselves to your trainers. Tell us: 1. An interesting fact about yourself 2. How you got into your field 3. Something you feel you excel at (ex. Communication, organization, presentations, ext.) 4. Something you feel you aren’t the best at and want to improve on (public speaking, time management, ext.) 5. Why your excited for this training workshop

company and team goals are so that they can plan on how they can get there with their team
4. Think of team building as a process not
just a single plan that is being executed
5. Focus on creating trust among the team and create the team building activities that build trust

For the practice activity for objective 2 there will be a padlet discussion board where trainees will take what they’ve learned and discuss it with peers through an interactive discussion board.

Summary/Concluding Activity: Time: 5 minutes
For our summary activity, we will be doing a closing icebreaker where the trainees will have an opportunity to apply what they have learned throughout the training session. One-word icebreaker challenge
A quick, minimal preparation icebreaker that is proven to work perfectly to put people at ease during any meeting or training session. This icebreaker will lead participants directly to the content of our training workshop content.
