The names of the leads roles are shown mid-way through the trailer; this is probably done to attract the correct target audience and keep people interested due to actresses such as Keira Knightly being a leading role.

We are told who is starring in the film to help grab more potential viewers due to stars such as “Keira Knightly” playing lead roles. Automatically because of such an A list star being a lead role it will create a wider target audience and more people will want to watch the film. The actors are shown before the names are revealed. The genre of the film is typically love, we can tell this from the trailer the snippets in it.

The music helps enhance the theme of love and sorrow, it does this by having dramatic changes in tempo and pitch to hep the audience realise a change in atmosphere.

The film doesn’t have a voice over as again the names of the actors are presented through text appearing on the scene. All the information needed is shown through parts of the scenes on the trailer.

The speed of the trailer changes again depending on the mood of the scene, the speed is faster when something is happening/or going to happen and is slow when the romantic element of the film is present.

The words “Coming Soon” are the last frame of the trailer; this will entice potential viewers to keep enquiring about the film.

The trailer of the film is more effective than the poster as it gives more of the story away and helps you create feelings for the characters before even seeing the film. Compared to the poster that only shows two different scenes of the film and not how they relate.

The main roles of people starring in the film are shown, such as “Zak Effron” and “Quuen Latifa”. Also Zak Effron’s solo is on the trailer, this is due to him being famous and not the fact that he is a main character. This will help collect more viewers of the film.

From the trailer we can see that the trailer is a musical, this is from the main roles singing and dancing through-out and the general conventions of a musical being shown.

The musical element help to show the audience that he genre of the film is actually a musical.

The film does have a voice over this to show the over exaggerated “Cheesyness” of the film. It also emphasises the genre through having bright colourful pop ups and the twist of a Broadway theme throughout.

The speed of the trailer is fast through-out this is to make sure it always looks busy and fun and again refers back to the genre of it being a musical.

In the last frame of the “Hairspray” trailer we are shown the date it will be screening in cinemas, this is done to ensure people are aware of when the film will be available to watch.

The trailer again is more effective than the poster. However the poster focuses more on the actors and actresses the trailer is more dependent on the story line and emphasising the fact that it’s a musical.

The names of the main roles flash up in a magical way to reflect the genre of the film.

From the trailer it is clear that the genre of the film is fantasy due to the emphasis on magic and witches etc.

The trailer shows clearly expresses that the film is a fantasy one and shows snippets of magical scenes from the film to help promote this.

The trailer doesn’t have a voice over as it would make the genre of the film a bit of a joke as they are cheesy. The text pop ups and magical scenes give a better effect than that of a voice over.

The trailer speed is of a fast pace this is too keep the audience interested and a way of quickly snapping shots through different scene to show he audience what the film is about.

The last frame of the trailer says “Coming Soon” this is done to leave the audience in suspense and tease them into making them want too watch the film.
