It’s hard to believe it was three decades ago when Christian leaders in China first contacted us, eager for biblical resources.

Spotlight on a young leader

Heading back to China!

Today the church in China is growing at an explosive rate. Hearts are turning to Jesus every day. Each year thousands of young men and women enroll in seminary, while many others serve as lay leaders. Yet there just aren’t enough trained church leaders to keep up with the growing need. Pastors are few, and biblical resources are even fewer.

Josh McDowell Ministry staff have witnessed this need firsthand. “The difficulty in China is that there are so few pastors to shepherd and mentor all these new believers,” shared one staffer. “And these pastors don’t have access to the resources they need. Christian books, Josh’s books in particular, are in high demand. Books on the topics of family, marriage, parenting and discipleship are the most sought after.”

Your gifts of Christian books are changing livesJin is a seminary student at Yanjing Theological Seminary in Beijing . . .

“Many do not realize that upon graduation, we no longer have access to the seminary library,” he shared. “And on the meager income I will make as a pastor, if any at all, I will not have the money to buy resources.

“Neither my hometown nor my home church has a library, so without these books, I would have nothing. They have been such a blessing. I will cherish and use them in developing my teaching and share them back in my church.”

Jin and thousands of other seminary graduates will soon be serving as pastors and key officials in the government.

Please invest in China’s future leaders through your gift of Christian resources!

During a book distribution event last year, a female student said, “Please come back next year! I’ ll be a senior, and it will be my turn to receive books!” Your ongoing support will ensure she and other students will receive personal libraries of truth-filled books. Your gift will help to equip them to boldly share their faith as they begin their ministries.

In 2011, when Bain graduated from Nanjing Seminary, he was among the first students to receive a personal library of Josh McDowell books. Today, Bain pastors a large church, teaches at one of China’s largest seminaries, and serves as assistant to the president of the seminary. “I use these books to help with my sermons, my own spiritual growth, and as I disciple and minister to my students,” shared Bain. Thousands of seminary students will soon follow in Bain’s footsteps as they assume roles as pastors and serve in positions of influence. Thanks to your gift of truth-filled books, they’ll be better equipped to lead and serve.

God has placed an incredible passion for China in my heart — and I believe yours too. China is especially near and dear to me because of the scope of the opportunity. It’s HUGE!

The church in China is growing quickly. They can’t train pastors fast enough. Pastors don’t have the resources they need to begin their life of ministry. That’s why our work with seminary students is so critical. These future pastors are going to step into churches with congregations of 1,000 to 10,000. What an influence these young men and women will have!

What could be more strategic than investing in these future leaders — in a country so ripe for harvest like China?

During my last trip to China, I asked the pastors and government officials how we could best serve them. Every one said the same thing: “Please, please get us more of your books.”

As I head to China again in April and May, my prayer is you’ll join me in equipping that nation’s future Christian leaders.

Thank you!

Josh McDowell staff says China’s seminary students are eager for Christian books and resources. 9 out of 10 people have never heard

the gospel.

Students attending the 23 state-registered seminaries and Bible schools in China do not have sufficient funds to purchase books writtenby sound, biblically based authors.
