‘Numbers Count’ has enabled the children with specific numeracy difficulties to feel supported. We have not only seen attainment levels and number ages rise, but also confidence, self-esteem and enthusiasm for maths grow.

This renewed enthusiasm has been echoed across the school through the use of displays, the raised profile of problem solving, maths clubs, the introduction of lighter touch interventions and tracking the progress of ‘Numbers Count’ graduates.

A great intervention which ticks all boxes!

The consultant had a major impact on our ICT department by revitalising our teaching and learning. The following strategies were used:• exploring and developing group work • using questioning techniques and discussion to improve pupils’ understanding• developing deeper thinking skills through ICT

The consultant has not only supported and prepared us for Ofsted, but, through many thought-provoking and interesting discussions, we have discovered more about our knowledge and our understanding of ICT and how to implement this into our pedagogy. The consultant has been a great asset and offered fantastic support as and when needed. I look forward to working with her again in the future.

Kirklees is my 3rd local authority as a teacher and booksplus is easily the best curriculum resource service I have encountered. From my first visit in the summer I found the staff accommodating to any requests I had and willing to listen to new ideas.

Teacher, Kirklees junior and infant school

booksplus has been a constant source of support and resources to the learning resource centre at our school. The book exchange programme is always popular and provides the ability to refresh our stock of books regularly. The curriculum support boxes are always very useful, particularly the Shakespeare box which has been used well over the last two years.

We enhance the school curriculum, bringing it to life ‘out in the field’, making learning enjoyable for all. Learning is of a practical nature and encourages both independence and team work. This way of working allows every child to shine. As a consequence, self esteem is increased and new and positive relationships often form with peers and adults. Residential groups also gain from the social experience of living and eating together.

The pupils gain so much from Cliffe House and it is a wonderful experience for them. All the staff at the centre are so caring and supportive and it is part of a memory of a lifetime. An excellently run and organised establishment.

Thank you for a lovely time at the Sikh temple! My favourite part was seeing the 5 Ks and listening to the Emperor’s story.

Year 2 pupil, Kirklees primary school

We were amazed at how the pupils responded by being still and quiet, to the meditation, which demonstrated some spiritual awareness and development.

Teacher, Kirklees special school

The experiential and phenomenological learning students gain from visiting faith centres cannot be replicated in the classroom and certainly cannot be found in text books or via the internet.

Lecturer, Huddersfield University

Actually seeing things for real like the deities, the art work and décor in the prayer hall means this learning will stick in the children’s memories far longer than learning about faith via other sources.
