Product Data Sheet
1Product Data Sheet – PDS-035-01
Tiling
The board has a pre-primed acrylic coating suitable for direct
tiling. Tiles should be installed using the appropriate water
resistant grout and tile adhesive, following the manufacturers’
guidance.
Repair
Minor damage - for light scuffs, fill flush with tile adhesive.
If the board becomes damaged, it may be necessary to replace
that area of board. It is important that the replacement board
is of the same type as specified and installed. Cut out the
affected area back to the nearest framing member. Replace
the board, accurately cutting and screw-fixing the same type
and thickness of board.
The following guidance applies to the use of Glasroc H TILEBACKER
in part tiled areas not directly exposed to wetting.
Plastering
If there is a requirement for plastering the boards, the smooth
face of Glasroc H TILEBACKER can be plastered with either
Thistle Board Finish, Thistle Multi-Finish or Thistle Durafinish.
There should be the minimum of delay between completion
of the lining and the commencement of plastering.
Jointing
Gyproc jointing materials produce durable joint reinforcement
and a smooth, continuous, crack-resistant surface ready for
priming and final decoration. Use Gyproc Joint Cement for
jointing Glasroc H TILEBACKER. For further information please
refer to WHITE BOOK section 13 – Jointing.
Gyproc Joint Cement is trowel applied to the joint and
Gyproc Joint Tape bedded in. Alternatively, Thistle ProTape
FT50 is applied over the joint and a coat of Gyproc Joint
Cement is trowel applied.
The joint treatment is allowed to dry and lightly sanded to
remove any high spots.
For internal angles, the use of Gyproc Joint Tape is perferable
to Thistle ProTape FT50. Its crease makes it easier to achieve a
neat, straight joint with higher cracking resistance.
For external angles, Gyproc Corner Tape, Gyproc No-Coat
Ultraflex 325 or Gyproc Drywall Metal Angle Bead are used,
bedded in Gyproc Joint Cement. A second coat of Gyproc Joint
Cement is trowel applied and feathered out to about 200mm
width on each side on the joint. The joint treatment is
allowed to dry and lightly sanded.
A third application of Gyproc Joint Cement may be necessary,
applied as the second coat and slightly wider, e.g. where
boards are fixed with any steps, gaps or minor damage. When
the final application has dried and been sanded smooth, the
surface is ready for decoration.
Decoration
After the joint treatment has dried, decoration, including any
decorator’s preparatory work, should follow with the
minimum delay.
Repair
Minor damage - lightly sand the surface to remove burrs and
fill flush with two applications of Gyproc Joint Cement.
Deep indents resulting from impact - check the board core to
ensure that it is not shattered. If intact, apply a coat of
Gyproc Joint Filler, followed by the procedure for repairing
minor damage as outlined above, once set / dry.
Extensive damage - when the damage is more extensive it may
be necessary to replace that area of board. It is important that
the replacement board is of the same type as specified and
installed. Cut out the affected area back to the nearest framing
member. Replace the board, accurately cutting and screw-fixing
the same type and thickness of board. Fill edge joints, then tape
and finish in the recommended way. Redecorate as required.
It is essential that repairs are made ‘like for like’. If the finish is skim plaster, jointing
materials must not be used in the repair.
NB

Gypframe metal productsThe modern, engineered alternative to traditional timber and blockwork
construction, Gypframe-based wall, ceiling and floor systems are quicker
and easier to install, whilst meeting the highest performance
requirements.
Up to 50% lighter than equivalent timber systems, and up to 70% lighter
than blockwork, Gypframe metal products are easier to transport and
offer a high strength to weight ratio for guaranteed performance and
long life.
Gypframe components are easy to cut on site, non-flammable and won’t
rot, twist or warp. They can be stored outside and installed in any
weather, making it easier to schedule work.
The patented UltraSTEEL® process gives the components greater
strength, makes fixing easier and improves screw retention and pull-out
by up to 20%. That’s why only systems built using Gypframe metal
components qualify for the British Gypsum SpecSure® lifetime system
warranty – peace of mind that they will perform to specification
throughout their entire installed life.

Gypframe reference codes and abbreviations
The first two or three digits of a component code refer to the component width, the letters
refer to the component type and the last two digits indicate metal thickness or gauge in mm.
This section of the Trade Catalogue contains all the individual Gypframe profiles and
Gypframe metal accessories. These are identified in the product index with either “P” for a
Gypframe profile or “A” for a Gypframe accessory.
For identification of all the components required for any of British Gypsum’s wall, ceiling,
floor or encasement systems, please use the System index section of this Trade Catalogue
on page 11. The System index will help you to identify the essential system components,
system upgrade components and optional components designed to enhance system
performance.
Gypframe metal products have been developed and tested to provide total compatibility
and integrated performance as part of British Gypsum warranted wall, ceiling, floor and
encasement systems. We therefore recommend the use of the System index to ensure that
customers are provided with all of the correct components required to satisfy the conditions

The nominal weight of each palletised pack in this Trade Catalogue are intended for
mechanical handling and load make-up purposes only. This information is also printed on

product size. Consideration needs to be given to the possible effect of the width of the
pallet on the load centres of a lift truck.
Most Gyproc plasterboard products now feature the board weight printed on the reverse
face, however, the nominal weight of individual British Gypsum products can be found in
the relevant Product Data Sheet. Further safety information is contained in the SITE BOOK.

prior to the
building envelope
being sealed.
Designed to offer outstanding performance in key areas such as fire
performance, and resistance against water and impact. These boards can
be used for a range of high performance applications in commercial,
industrial and residential buildings, as well as the off-site sector.
Glasroc HEnhanced Glasroc H (Hydro) technology (eGRG) is a derivative of the
patented Glass Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) technology of Glasroc F.
Glasroc H TILEBACKER provides outstanding performance as a tile backing
board and in environments where there is frequent exposure to water, such
as shower cubicles and wet rooms. The yellow pre-primed acrylic surface
resists water, protecting the background and system, whilst providing an
optimum surface key for direct tiling or decoration.
Rigidur HOffering superior mechanical strength, dimensional stability and
environmental benefits, Rigidur H is a gypsum fibre board, manufactured
from recycled paper fibre. It has been developed for high traffic applications

quality of finish you can achieve with our other finishing plasters, but with
the added advantage that it can be applied to the wall at a faster rate,
saving you time and money. Thistle Spray Finish incorporates all of the

setting time and feel. It’s Thistle plaster, but faster.

when
re-skimming.
New Thistle

makes the
inconvenience
of PVA a thing
of the past.

a full range of specific and multi-purpose solutions for all internal
plastering needs and backgrounds.

ACTIVair: Clearing the air
It’s no wonder that we often feel the need for fresh air - after all we spend 80% of our time
indoors at work, at school and at home. Clean air is something we often assume we have in
the buildings in which we live, work and learn; however the reality is quite different.
Though we don’t notice them, impurities, such as volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) are
often present in the air we breathe – emitted from furniture, carpets and building materials.
Long-term exposure to these can potentially cause health problems and reduce general
wellbeing.
Clean air, on the other hand, can speed up patient recovery in hospitals, reduce absence at
work, and increase pupils’ concentration at school.
ACTIVair is our latest technology designed specifically to convert VOC emissions into
non-harmful inert compounds, making the air around you up to 70% cleaner. This clever
technology continues to work for over 50 years, and whilst alternative solutions absorb
VOC’s, they don’t decompose them like ACTIVair, risking re-emission at a later date.
Gyptone with ACTIVair
We introduced ACTIVair technology into our Gyptone ceiling range in November 2012
meaning you and your customers can now benefit from this innovation.
Gyptone 600mm x 600mm A edge and E15 edge ceiling tiles have also been reduced in
thickness from 12.5mm to 10mm, whilst maintaining all technical performances such as
acoustic absorption, strength and reaction-to-fire. This has the advantage of reducing tile
weights, therefore making installation quicker and easier. In addition, the reduced material
usage cuts CO2 emissions and water consumption during production resulting in a healthier
environment.
