Ibérico (Pata Negra or black-foot) pigs are descended from Wild Iberian Boar, and roam freely throughout the Dehesas of Extremadura, south-west Spain, foraging for acorns; it is this combination of ancestry, their diet of acorns and semi-wild existence that gives the meat its characteristic nutty flavour and melt-in-the-mouth quality.

SERRANO HAMSerrano ham comes from white pigs and makes up 95% of Spain’s pig production. Our hams are from pure-bred Duroc pigs produced by an artisan company in Galicia – the extra marbling in their meat makes it possible to cure them using 25% less salt, which gives a sweeter, mellow, rounded flavour.

La Rioja is famous for its chorizos as well as its wine. These unsmoked chorizos and mini-chorizos are artisan-made in the traditional way and are very versatile, with mild and spicy options.

Our Morcilla de Burgos is made in a small town in the province of Burgos in the Ribera del Duero wine-growing region; it is the most famous black pudding in Spain, filled with rice and gently flavoured with cumin. This supplier also makes a delicious traditional long thin chorizo for cooking known as Chistorra; a versatile mild chorizo used fried as a tapa, for breakfast with eggs, or in pasta and casserole dishes.

Idiazábal is made using the unpasteurised milk of the long-haired Latxa sheep from the Basque country, lightly wood-smoked to give a nutty flavour.

Ibérico is the best-selling cheese in Spain after Manchego; it is a pasteurised mixed milk cheese with a similar basket-weave appearance to Manchego.

Valdeon, ‘Picos Blue’, is a pasteurised cow’s and goat’s milk cheese from the Picos de Europa Mountains, matured for three months in natural caves, rich in Penicillium mould, which penetrates and blues the cheese, creating its strong but not overpowering flavour, much like Roquefort but less salty.

GOATS MILK CHEESEMurcia al vino is known as the Drunken Goat, since this medium-textured cheese, made from the pasteurised milk of the Murciana-Granadina goat, is cured in wine to give a spicy aroma. The pasteurised Cabra al Romero is covered in fragrant rosemary leaves.

Our Mahón is made using pasteurised cow’s milk; the cheeses are brushed with olive oil and paprika, giving an aroma of peaches. This is a fabulous range of condiments from Girona in Cataluña, carefully created to pair with different types of cheese. Each condiment uses fruit, together with spices and nuts, to create a clean flavour profile which enhances the flavours of different cheeses. Choose from two sizes of jar – 30 g or 70g – and either a box of a single flavour or a mixed display box of 6 x 5 flavours. We then also have each flavour to buy on its own or to refill the display boxes. They have a Superior Taste Award from the International Taste Institute in Brussels. Pure natural still mineral water from the famous Spa of Solan de Cabras in Cuenca. The first record of these waters being used as a cure for arthritis dates back to when the Romans were in occupation in AD 182. The King of Spain, Carlos III, ordered the construction of baths and a hospital there in 1755, and it has been used as a Spa ever since, said to help with the digestion and aid a healthy diet. It has a very low sodium and other trace mineral content, making it not only soft and delicious tasting but also useful for those on a low salt diet and for infants. The official water of the Real Madrid football team in reusable blue plastic or glass bottles.

The famous naturally sparkling mineral water from Catalunya with a high mineral content and a distinctive taste. The source is a thermal spring sixty miles north-east of Barcelona, which has been prized for the quality of its water since pre-Roman times. In modern times it has been bottled since 1889 in the small village of Caldes de Malavella, and has become one of the most recognisable water brands throughout Spain. Its taste comes from the 27 essential minerals it contains, which have been shown to lower cholesterol and promote metabolic function. This lovely range of Sherry comes from the boutique bodega of Dios Baco in Jerez, Andalucía. The word 'Sherry' comes from the town where it is made: Jerez in Andalucía. The grape variety Palomino Fino is mainly used as it is able to withstand the dry climate; only 6% of the vines are Pedro Ximenez and Moscatel, which provide sweeter flavours. The Palomino grape is first fermented to produce a dry white wine which then develops a layer of white yeast, the 'flor', in the cool damp air of the bodegas. Wines with a particularly good flor will become Fino, with its characteristic hint of bitter almonds, while those without much flor will be made into Oloroso, a stronger sherry with the addition of more spirit, which kills off the flor and allows the wine to mature in the air. Amontillado develops from an ageing Fino after its flor has died, allowing oxygen into the wine to continue the maturation process. The sun-ripened Pedro Ximenez grapes are used to make a very rich, sweet sherry with a raisiny flavour, fantastic poured over ice-cream! All are then matured using the Solera y Criadera system, whereby the sherry is moved through a series of barrels over a period of many years until fully mature.

Paelleras are the large flat open frying pans from Valencia which have given paella its name; traditionally made from iron or steel, both of which require oiling after use and are not suitable for dishwashers. The more modern finish is an enamelled or vitreo-ceramic one, which doesn’t rust and is less prone to sticking – or the heavy iron-based flat pans suitable for induction hobs. We also carry a selection of gas burners for use with bottled gas (supplied without hose and regulator) and two sturdy adjustable tripods. Please note that we give a portion size for each pan, but this is only as a guide – in Spain they always use a larger pan than the minimum to allow for second helpings!

PaymentFor new customers, or if we only trade with you occasionally, we prefer to take payment at the time of ordering. Credit accounts are available for established businesses. Our credit terms are payment by 30 days from the date of the invoice – please ask for a credit account form if you wish to set up an account.

DeliveryDeliveries are made by courier from Monday to Friday. Please let us know within 24 hours of delivery if there are any shortages or damage to your order. Check your goods carefully on arrival, and please note on the driver’s delivery sheet if there are signs of damage or shortage of boxes so that we can claim from the courier: Delicioso cannot be held responsible for damaged goods received but not signed for as such.

We are always happy to discuss your requirements and answer your questions before you place an order. Our offices are open between 8am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. There is no minimum order quantity, but we do make a charge for delivery depending on the weight of your order. Delivery starts from £6.50 for orders up to 20kg; however we are able to offer free delivery for established customers ordering over £500, and for orders over £1,000 there is an additional 5% discount – please ask for further details.
