Society Notice Board Editor’s Comments: With another packed issue and I won’t ramble on this month, suffice to say having just finished flood repairs it’s flooded badly again as I finish this issue (1 November)…aagh !. Hopefully the postal strikes won’t delay your copy to much. If you wish to be sure of your membership renewal reaching me, please take advantage of the online PayPal or telephone credit card facilities, details below. On membership cards generally, please remember on renewal, your new card will be sent out with the next issue of Tracks. Now this may mean that you might wait up to 5 weeks if you’ve just missed the end of month cut off when I send cards out for distribution. So there is no need to send a separate sae for card. The way I’m sending out renewal forms and issuing cards now means that assuming you renew at first request, your existing card will always be valid until new one arrives. Unfortunately I can’t speak for previous cards issued. But bear with me and in another 8 months everyone should be on this new system. Also many of you will have already received the new look card, which I hope you approve of. NEC Warley National Model Railway Show, 21-22 Nov. 2009: Following up on a contact made at Eastleigh 100, we have been allowed a stand at this years show. As these are foc for specialist societies we have jumped at the chance to again raise our profile. Most of our counterpart societies attend and with no other distractions…like locos, we should get footfall past the stand. I will be there running the small stand pushing membership and publications. There won’t be much room for more than 2 people at any one time, though others can mill around, but I would be happy to hear of anyone willing to help out over the 2 days. Admittedly this is late notice but I was only contacted once Oct issue was at printers. Otherwise If you are attending the show, please come and say hello…mind you I tried that at Eastleigh and as some of you saw, at times we were too swamped to chat. Tram & Light Rail Systems 2010 - No 1 West European Trams, No 2 East European Trams & No 3 Metro Systems of Europe

As described in the titles, all tram & light rail systems are covered including those in the UK. The T&W Metro, London Underground, DLR and UK airport systems are covered in No3 with the remaining tram systems in book No2. The East European volume does not cover every system, as getting information is difficult though improving. Trolleybuses covered in previous editions are now in their own book. But if trams are your main interest then these fairly comprehensive books are perfect. Thanks to researcher Martin Hall. Prices: available direct from HB Publications with FREE p&p (see rear cover for contact details) No 1 - £8.79 (£10.99 non members) (136 pages), No 2 £9.75 (£11.99 non members) (176 pages), No 3 £7.99 (£9.99 non members) (112 Pages)

Imperial Wharf Station:

With a northbound freight behind 66516, the photo shows the western entrance taken from Townmead Road, 13th October 2009.

The latest manifestation of major infrastructure works and service improvements throughout London is the opening of a brand new station, Imperial Wharf on the Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction line. It serves the growing residential re-developments on the north bank of the River Thames in the Sands End adjacent Chelsea Harbour. It opened on 27th September and is served by London Overground 3 times an hour and by the hourly Southern East Croydon – Milton Keynes service.

Ramblings of a Rail Enthusiast by David Spencer - 1962 Part 2

My error but there were a couple of relevant photos for Part 1 taken in Scotland in March so I’ve included them with Dave’s next trip north of the border in June below…ed May began with an SLS 'Last train on the Eastern Valleys' from Newport to Brynmawr and Blaenavon (Low Level) this was purely a nostalgia trip as the South Wales bug had not yet got to me and included my first sighting of Crumlin Viaduct. Brynmawr was also a shock being pure LNWR whereas everything else was of course GWR. There then followed a quiet month with only a local Wolverhampton mini bash to Oxley where there were 38 and the works 37 and two other outings one with the lads to Three Bridges, Tonbridge, Horsham, Brighton and Redhill and after the number crunching in April we gathered a modest 111 and a coach trip to London which produced 813 locos. Stratford shed and works amassed 147 including 6 baby Deltics, 11 D82s and 8 D84s also a couple of Cl.24s still awaiting transfer to Scotland among 78 main line diesels. Old Oak Common had 100 and nearby Willesden 97. Further sheds covered in size order were King’s Cross, Southall, Nine Elms, Cricklewood, Hornsey, Feltham, Kentish Town, Stewarts Lane, Neasden, Slough, Plaidstow and Devons Road. Hornsey had another 14 Cl.24s, 6 D82s and a baby Deltic and Willesden still had prototypes 10001, 10201 and 10202. Steam was still alive at King’s Cross, including 7 A4s, all the rest were much as one would expect. The last weekend in May was a short but highly profitable trip to Swindon with 208 in shed and works, 102 at St Philips Marsh and 46 on Barrow Road. June started with a couple of treats, first on 2nd the SLS ran a Sutton Coldfield Centenary Tour which began with a duck eight 48930 from Birmingham (New Street) to Sutton Coldfield which included a photo stop at Gravelly Hill where we all stormed up the high cutting sides to get a good photograph (Network Rail and Health and Safety eat your heart out). We then went via the Soho loop and Bescot before another photo stop at Wednesbury Town, then some rare track on the link via Princes End to Tipton (Owen Street) and return to New Street. From there we changed into a DMU for some more very rare track all long since gone. Leaving via the Camp Hill line and Lifford Curve we reversed at Bourneville onto the canal branch to Lifford. From there we travelled to Longbridge where we turned right onto the Halesowen line across the beautiful but fragile Dowery Dell Viaduct (a slender structure on eight metal trestles) to Old Hill. Whilst I did Halesowen to Old Hill many times this was to be the only time I did the whole line except for walking it two years later. With reversals both here and at Stourbridge Junction, we then covered the full length of the line to Oxley via Womborn, again the only time apart from a later walk. The last rare section was after Wolverhampton when we took the Midland line from Heath Junction to Rycroft Junction avoiding Walsall, this closed soon after, as it paralleled the ex LNWR line which remains today. Those of you used to neat A5 sizes booklets for special tours today should remember in those days we had to make do with duplicated and stapled foolscap sheets but I have kept then all in a folder and whilst a tad tattered I can still refer to them a valuable historical archive. The next day armed with a Freedom of Scotland ticket once again I headed up north via northeast. York was the first port of call with 103, Darlington had 96, West Hartlepool 55, Thornaby 139, Sunderland 52 and Gateshead 74. Six amazing sheds to begin a week’s holiday with loads of pre-grouping freight engines.

Moving into Scotland I called in at St Margarets and Thornton Junction where the main prize here was 61994 ‘The Great Marquess’ who like ‘Morayshire’ I did not know at the time that they were to be preserved. Next morning Dundee West had just three North British shunters whilst Tay Bridge had 30, all steam including two pacifies 60161 and 60519. Ferryhill was disappointing with just 34 but some gems with examples of A1, A2, A3 and A4 and the preserved ‘Gordon Highlander’. Still heading north, next was Inverurie Works with 43 and apart from the diesels, nothing except one black five built after 1930, it was all old stock. The day finished at Inverness and being a fan of anything from Swindon I was delighted to see 1646, which with 1649 was sent north to operate the Dornoch branch. The only other steam were three Caledonian 4-4-0s and a Caley 0-4-4T all stored as dieselisation had taken its grip and none of the sheds north of Perth had live steam.

Stirling, 5 June 1962

8F 2-10-0 WD Austerity 90759 (to BR 1948) with just 6 months before withdrawal

Grangemouth, 5 June 1962 After a night’s sleep I went up to Dingwall where 1649 was hiding all on its own, then headed south to Aviemore. This included one rare steam 40150 and 3 diesels, then Perth with a plethora of Black fives (well 24 out of 41), Stirling had only 17, Grangemouth 23 (where a saw a large number of WD 2-10-0s for the first time), Polmont 19 and finally Bathgate 49 where for me Director 62685 was the star sighting. On the 6th I went down the East Coast line to Berwick to visit Tweedmouth, never a big shed, I still logged 60002, 60151 and 60517. Returning up north to Dunfermline (25), Alloa (4), Stirling had 7 more than the previous day whilst Perth had 9 more almost all diesels The last call of the day was Dundee Tay Bridge, no pacifies this time. The 7th saw me in Glasgow again with only time for the main sheds I covered Corkerhill (54), Polmadie (82), Eastfield (67), Cowlairs Works (28) and St Rollox Works (45) before my first ride on the West Highland line to Fort William (7 all steam) and Mallaig. Sadly I did not do the latter shed but it contained one highly sort after loco (a 76 standard if my memory serves me correctly) but I missed it! Up in time for the first train back, it appears rather than change at Crianlarich I went into Glasgow and out again to Oban where 5 more steam awaited me. Then back again, this ending up at Greenock where there were 28 locos all but three being tanks. My final day was another Glasgow bash starting at Dawsholn where Caledonian 123 was found along with 54398 ‘Ben Alder’, which if my memory serves me correctly was cut up by accident soon after my visit, a tragic waste. Just 32 locos but a fabulous mix from English Electric type 1s (Cl.20s) to standard class 4 (76xxx) to North British J88 tanks to ex-Caledonian pugs and 2Fs dating from 1885. Being a weekend, Eastfield had 105, St Rollox (91 including 1 A4 60027), Polmadie (135) and Corkerhill (64) huge increases in numbers from my visit earlier in the week.

The following week saw a quick visit to Manchester visiting Lees (16) Newton Heath (84), Agecroft (40) and Trafford Park (28). I always tried to fit in the small sheds, which was essential to fill in those elusive gaps in the ABC. On June 23rd I travelled on a Forest of Dean tour starting from Gloucester with pannier tank 6424 and auto coaches. We took the Ledbury line as far as Dymock (it was lifted beyond) then returned to Over Junction and down to Bullo Pill and the full length of the Cinderford branch. As the direct line to Speech House Road had been closed and lifted, we had to return to the main line and down to Lydney Junction, over what is now the preserved line to Coleford Junction where we reversed up the 1 in 30 incline to Coleford. Although the GW and S&W stations are adjacent and only yards apart, for years there was no proper link between them and shunting took no less than four reversals until the GWR line closed and a new through line was constructed to allow ballast from Whitecliff Quarry through to the national network. Returning to Coleford Junction we continued to Speech House Road, there being nothing there, yet they must have kept the line open for some reason. Of all the lines we covered only the Lydney Junction to Parkend is still open in the hands of the preservationists and whilst I am not a dedicated track basher it was a brilliant trip. That night I did Horton Road and Barnwood sheds then down to Bristol, I assume to sleep in Temple Meads and look at St Philips Marsh (67) before setting out in the morning to South Wales. It was my introduction to the dump at Barry Docks, which had (a) only just begun, (b) was sited in the dock sidings and not where Woodhams began cutting up soon after and (c) only contained Western tank engines, seven 55xx tanks among the 19 locos that were there. Barry shed had 26, one, a black five was to be the only tender engine I was to see apart from Cardiff Canton which was also the biggest with 98 including 3 Kings, a sign of dieselisation. Elsewhere, when I first knew South Wales Castles and Britannias were the biggest engines you would see. Other sheds were Cardiff East Dock with 46, Cardiff Cathays 2, Abercynon 21 and Merthyr 13. To finish an amazing month I only visited three sheds but had the ride of my life I shall never forget. I went to Bletchley and saw 40 locos. The iconic 10000 was there but with Bescot, Bletchley was always a stronghold for duck 8s which still clanked up and down the West Coast main line on slow freights. My connection on to Leighton Buzzard was an Anglo Scottish train running three hours late and in those days you did not get three or more Cl.321s an hour like you do these days! However the enterprising local management produced one of the Buckingham branch single car Derby lightweight units to run as a relief to Euston. I cannot remember if it was 79900 or 79901, but was rarely seen on the main line. The driver entered into the spirit of the occasion and we literally flew down to Leighton Buzzard. It was a really exhilarating and the memory is as fresh today as it was all those years ago. The sub shed had just two locos and again if I remember right the ailing Scottish train eventually rolled in with a Royal Scot to take me on to Watford Junction and another 20 locos. One the perks of working for the railways, was access to shed permits, for which I was shamelessly put upon by friends. So it was for a massive shed bash to the north on the weekend of July 7th and 8th when four of us started at York, which produced 119, nothing unusual including 2 A1s and 4 A2s. Goole had 28 on, 12 of which were WDs, all the pugs had gone. Hull Dairycoates mustered 76, Malton 9 and the two Scarborough sheds a total of 32 before we made our way west into the industrial areas. Farnley Junction 32, Royston 53, Wakefield 76 Stourton 36, Neville Hill 45, Low Moor 44, Mirfield 27 and Huddersfield 25.The last call of the day was Sowerby Bridge in the pitch black to pick up 16 and a wet sock as I stepped into a pit! We found a car park to doss down in but hanging my sock outside was not a success at the morning dew made it even wetter! Into Lancashire we covered Rose Grove, Lower Darwen, Lostock Hall 58, the roofless Preston with 11 Patriots among a total of 17. On to Fleetwood, Blackpool North & South, Southport, Wigan, Springs Branch 70, Warrington Central 3, Warrington Dallam, Warrington Arpley, Sutton Oak, Widnes, Walton on the Hill, Aintree and Edge Hill 73. This was a big change from earlier in the year with just one semi 46225 and 1 Britannia, the rest replaced by 5 English Electric type 4s (Cl.40). As you expect with only two drivers and as tiredness took its grip, tempers got a little frayed on the Sunday and apart from York we did no big sheds but what a fantastic trip with a total of 1215 locos, not a bad weekends work! The following weekend involved an overnight coach trip. Lancaster and Tebay were visited on the way up. Carlisle Canal had just one A3 and Kingmoor had 98, but it was a sign of the times that it included 4 semis and 1 Princess Royal that you expected to see at Upperby, there was also 5 Clans. Upperby had 73 (with nothing bigger than Royal Scots, of which there were 7. We then went round the coast to Workington and Barrow and Carnforth across to Hellifield, Skipton and Sowerby Bridge and finally Heaton Mersey on the way home to record a total of 475.

Days Out Cossington by Alan Gilmour: OS Map Ref: SK610 136 (road bridge) On Tuesday 22nd September 2009 I travelled to Cossington, a location north of Syston Junction and south of Sileby, Leicestershire that I have not been back to for over 20 years. Thankfully still a very good spot for photography, having a low bridge that carries, what for these days is a very quiet road and also a flat crossing to the south, which is public footpath over the line. All of the traction and units are of course so very different from all those years ago, and may be somewhat limited in type, but the variety of liveries and to some extent payload makes for interest. Freight locos were from four different companies, DB Schenker, Freightliner, GBRf and Fastline (09.33) 66526 ‘Driver Steve Dunn (George)’ 6L45 (07.35) Earles to West Thurrock cement tanks. Preservation News - 1 Great Central Railway Steam Gala, 9 – 11th October by Mike Rumens: With the weather forecast favourable I decided to visit the gala on Saturday 10 October, my only previous visit being an evening trip on the dining car train in the 1990s. Both Rothley and Quorn have good car parking areas so I started my visit at Rothley at 09.30. The GCR is quite unique in that the majority of the system is double tracked and therefore is capable of operating an intensive service. The operating period for the day was from 09.00 – 22.15 with a wide variety of train formations running - approximately 70 trains in total. During the day I visited all the stations and Loughborough shed area. On all sites visited it was the usual preservation drawback - inability to identify some of the on site vans, coaches and wagons. I could not find time to go on the coach trip from Quorn to the Mountsorrel Railway trackbed at Swithland sidings - next time perhaps. During my train journeys it was quite surprising how many photographers were line side - passes seemed to be readily available. For the dedicated steam enthusiast this Gala is a must - I will certainly visit again and get line side

European News by Martin Hall

On my recent holiday in Austria this year I had a pleasant surprise when I had a problem with a particular train that I was to travel on. An announcement came on to tell us that our train from Salzburg (Austria) to Frankfurt (Germany) was running 30-45mins late due to engineering works which would have meant we missed our connection in Frankfurt (travelling on to Köln (Germany). We decided to ask at the ticket office in Salzburg if they could help us. No problem was the reply and they re-booked our journey there and then, no extra charge and a better service being the new high speed Rail Jet. Now try this in the UK! The new Rail Jet services are superb. Very comfortable, as we were in first class, and there was a television screen at the end of the coach showing the route and the train’s position. A very pleasant holiday, the weather was great, 30°C temperatures, which I found comfortable

Location ‘Spot’light Update by Trevor Roots

TOTON YARD

New Bank sidings has been taken out of use as can be seen from the photo below, with nothing now stabled alongside the track and eastern boundary fence leading to the bank from Bessell Lane. The road bridge is the A52.

With spare siding capacity, 12 Cl.60s have been moved alongside the depot but to the east of the through lines. They are now in a much better position to view and photograph from the bank, though on the day I went, a rake of ballast hoppers was partly obscuring the front row of three. Long row: 60083/006/081/005/053/078/023/089/025, short row: 60097/044/ ?. This rearrangement has produced an interesting pairing of 60044 & 60078, being two of the three in ex-Mainline blue livery, the other being 60011, which was a long time resident at the rear of the depot (see previous report in July 2008 issue). Two other locos in special liveries have also been brought into full view after a long time, namely 60006 in silver Corus livery and 60081 in GWR lined green, which personally I never saw running. Interestingly all the nameplates have been removed which is a shame

German Freight Locos - A Tale of 2 Depots – Part 2: Continuing from the first part in the September issue, the second depot visited in April 2009 was Koln Gremberg. This depot had present 15 different DB classes and 2 from the private sector. Although it was a weekday, the shed contained 69 locomotives. On walking into the depot manager’s office, he knew what we wanted and permission was granted. The date was 23rd April. On view were members of Cl.139, 140, 145, 151, 152, 155, 185, 189, 225, 294, 333, 335, 362, 363 and 365. Also present were Belgian 2820 and PEG V60D V60 02.

PEG 0-8-0 V60-02

225091 originally passenger Cl.215, converted by removing the steam heat boiler, but many

re-numbered without conversion This class was designed for cross border freight workings and is a 4 voltage version of Cl.152. Similar ends but with a ribbed bodyside. They were bought by DB then sold to a leasing company and then leased back. Although they can be seen regularly in the Rotterdam area they return to Germany for servicing.

Railion 189089

145045 In recent years DB has introduced different classes but used the same body design. Cl.101 and 146 are passenger locomotives and Cl.145, 152 and 185 are freight. Some 145s worked push pull passenger services in the Ruhr prior to the arrival of the 146s. On paper the 145s are all allocated to Berlin Seddin, the 152s to Nurnberg Rbf and the 185s to Mannheim. The 3 classes can be seen all over Germany. Uncannily all 3 freight classes had a locomotive withdrawn due to accidents and each locomotive was replaced with a new one carrying the same number.

363675 the standard former DB shunter.

Introduced as Cl.360 this class was later converted for radio control and some became Cl.364. They were later re-engined and these became Cl.362. A heavier version was required and ballasted. This became Cl.361. The radio controlled members became Cl.365 and the re-engined ones became Cl.363. Many were sent to the former east to replace the ageing Cl.344, 345 and 346s. Many of these classes have also been scrapped.

All Our Yesterdays by Alan Gilmour

Some very personal reminisces from Dagenhams’ Lawrie Williams this month, from his childhood, his days on the railway, plus of course comments on buses & trains. I hope that you agree that they paint a picture of life as it was during WW2 and immediate post-war period. My transport interest started before I commenced school. I can remember being carried in my father’s arms down the open rear staircase of an LT type 3 axle double-decker on route 106. This then ran from Finsbury Park to Blackwall Tunnel / Becontree (now diverted to Whitechapel only and replaced via Mile End to Docklands). Looking over the back of the bus it looked a long way to fall. I had to run back when the bus stopped, to retrieve my cap from the gutter. It was about this time, June 1944, that a bomb dropped on the GER railway bridge over Grove Road, Bow. I was Intrigued to see trolley-buses with poles down reversing into side streets each side of the bridge to return from whence they came. At nights I would lay in bed listening to the clanking rods of locos going between Liverpool Street and Stratford. At the time we lived downstairs and my aunt, uncle and older cousin upstairs in a road just off Grove Road. He came home on leave during the blackout and walked round what he discovered later was a bombsite caused by a V1 strike. The bridge now has a blue plaque commemorating the incident (alongside a Railtrack sign asking for reports of bridge strikes !!!) After the war it was family custom to visit the country at Bank Holidays. Initially we used Coburn Road station but later Mile End once the Central line had been extended, sometimes changing from tube to steam pending completion through Epping. We sometimes went to Loughton or Theydon Bois stations then walked to Abridge returning by bus on route 10, Abridge / Wanstead to Elephant / Victoria, or vice-versa. The 10’s were also worked from Leyton garage with 3 axle LT type double-deckers.

The 677 trolleybuses along Grove Road replaced 77 trams in 1939, although I do not remember any tram tracks, presumably recovered quickly to facilitate the war effort. Crossing Mile End Road on their way to West India Dock the 677’s would often de-wire. At the time running along Mile End Road were routes 10, 25 & 96 buses, 661 & 663 trolleys, 720 to Epping/Bishops Stortford, 721 Brentwood, 722 Upminster & 726 to Whipsnade Zoo on summer Sundays. 277 buses replaced the 677s. (These still run with D6 replacing 106. Until recently there were only 25 bendy buses along Mile End Road). Like Alan Gilmour, I visited Stratford during the 1950s taking photographs with a Kodak folding Brownie. This replaced a box camera. It had two speeds --- slow & dead slow !! The shutter release was on the lens at the end of the bellows. This contributed to camera shake and sometimes resulted in the front of the camera being pulled down cutting off chimneys of locos !!. One photo shows one E J Pop Norris tip-toeing across the tracks. He lived in the Forest of Dean but was leader of most BLS trips starting from London. These would start from London terminus on a Saturday evening and visit up to 16 sheds/works before arriving back on Sunday evening, Pop had then to get back to Gloucester !!. Besides a mac he wore sandals, great for shed bashing (frequent pauses to return cinders to the ground). All topped off by bifocal specs Gandhi style. He was a University Don. I’ve no idea of his age but to me he seemed pretty ancient. After leaving London on an overnight trip he would visit the train toilet to have a shave but this never seemed to reach his shirt collar where a bush of grey hair protruded. He was keen to shave before Cheddington on the WCML as we would suffer a bouncy ride due, he said, to running on concrete sleepered track. When I was at Leicester in the 1960s the Divisional Manager was senior in army rank but lower in railway grade to the Line Manager at Derby. After an accident enquiry the staff at Derby would phone up to find out the outcome but we were under instruction that the Line Manager should be requested to speak to our Divisional Manager personally, petty politics. The DM was feared by most staff on the Division. On one occasion the Station Master at Market Harborough phoned up and said he had a quantity of out-of-date detonators in his store room but had been unable to get any boxes from the General Stores at Derby (they were sent direct from stations to Garston Dock, put on a tug and dumped in the Irish Sea off Liverpool). It was suggested that he take them down to the loco shed before the DM’s visit and explode them under a loco moving up and down the yard. Trouble was that the noise made the local paper so we had to arrange with DM’s secretary that she would ensure he didn’t see that paper. The Station Master was Jim O’Brian who later became Regional General Manager and eventually Chief Executive of BRB. I very much hope that the reader has found this piece as enjoyable as I did when I first read it, a wonderful store of memories of life on & off the railway. Lawrie has also supplied half a dozen B&W 620 size contact prints covering Stratford, Lowestoft, Liverpool Street & West Hartlepool in support which I will be happy to copy on to members on receipt of an SAE --- Alan Gilmour.

Preservation News - 2 Wensleydale Railway by Trevor Roots: As mentioned by Andrew Woodcock in a previous article (Sep 2009), ‘new’ locos have now arrived at the site. The photos below show 20166 from the Battlefield Line & 25313 from the Llangollen Railway (see photo of 25313 before moving in the last issue). An article on 47540 will appear in a future issue.

Wagon Corner by Martin Hall

WAGON NEWS: Fastline has secured a new contract with Eon to haul coal trains for at least three years so the mothballed Class 56/3’s could be back in action again. 31 potash hoppers built by Arbel-Fauvet (NACO19250-19280) are being refurbished at WH Davis and are having a striking bright blue livery applied. JGA No. NACO19258 is the first vehicle to be completed. The programme to refurbish the now ageing ‘Salmon’ fleet and recode them ‘Osprey’ has now reached 132 vehicles. Autumn has arrived and the leaf-busting RHTT FEA wagons are already out-and-about. Light Rail and Metro News by Martin Hall

Edinburgh: A dispute has arisen with the tram project largely over cost, which could mean the building programme could run well over budget. On the tram side the first vehicle has been completed and is ready for shipping to the UK. Wolverhampton: The project to re-build the bus station into a bus-tram-train interchange will start in October this year. Leeds: The proposed trolleybus scheme for Leeds looks likely to be approved. Liverpool: To improve the link between Liverpool city centre and John Lennon Airport, a tram-train scheme has been put forward. Maidenhead: Another LRT scheme has been voiced to re-use a closed BR line between Maidenhead and High Wycombe, closed by BR in 1970.

Liveries…RIP With many companies nearing the end of re-livering their rolling stock into corporate liveries, many of the previous liveries are now extinct or nearly so from entire fleets or particular classes. So until the next round of franchise changes, liveries, particularly on multiple units, will be fairly uniform and less varied. So here is a last look at a once common privatisation livery soon to rendered extinct.
