Town of Fairfield Health Department Date: 9/26/19 From: Sands Cleary, Health Director Re: Mill Hill School 9/9/19 Sampling Results – Walkway to Lower Playground and Field Two areas of PAH impacted soil above cleanup criteria was found during the initial sampling conducted. This was largely expected and is likely due to the asphalt millings that were used as a base layer in the construction of the sidewalk. In this round 8 additional soil samples were collected for PAH analysis. All 8 samples were below the cleanup criteria. The CT Department of Public Health advised that given the levels found and typical use, exposure to these areas would not cause any health effects. The Town will work with our consultant Tighe & Bond, CT DPH and CT DEEP on a remedial action plan to excavate the impacted surficial soils along the ramp and replace it with clean soil. When reviewing results page, the first column shows the different constituents tested for. The next two columns have the applicable standards which are defined in the key at the bottom of that page. The right most column shows the results of each individual sample.
