Town of Eagle Relocation Guide
Town Overview
Welcome to Eagle, Colorado!Eagle is economically and culturally attractive to individuals, families and innovative businesses motivated to live and work in a community with abundant recreational opportunities and an extremely high quality of life! Our town is “open for business!” Welcome to Eagle! – Mayor Yuri Kostick
The Town of Eagle is located in the beautiful Eagle River Valley and was incorporated in 1905. By 1921 the Town was the County Seat and a natural outfitting point for ranching, farming, nearby mining operations, and support for the local population. As the chances for advancement to “ply one’s trade” multiplied, many families moved and settled in Eagle because of the abundance of natural beauty and hunting and fishing opportunities in a rustic mountain setting.
As the “potato farming boom” began to fade in the 1960’s, the development of Vail Mountain Ski Resort began and later Beaver Creek Ski Resort, bringing two of the finest ski resorts in the world to Eagle County. Today, these world-class resorts, only 20-30 minutes away, not only host almost three million skiers per year, but offer Nordic Sking and Snowshoeing, plus other year-round recreational opportunities as well.
Surrounded by approximately 1,020 acres of Town-owned open space, the adjacent BLM land, miles of hiking and biking trails, multiple public parks, outdoor stage venue, outdoor public pool, indoor ice rink, BMX track, and public golf course, the Town of Eagle is a springboard for outdoor adventure. Our world-class mountain bike trails host major mountain biking events including The Colorado High School Cycling League State Championships,
the annual Eagle Outside Festival, and numerous other running and biking races. The Eagle Valley is also famous for a number of the finest mountain golf courses in the United States. Eagle Ranch Golf Course here in Eagle was designed by Arnold Palmer and is one of the best public courses in Colorado.
Other “best kept secrets” are the recreational activities associated with Brush Creek and the Eagle River including camping, fly-fishing, rafting and kayaking. The mighty Colorado River is close-by as well. The magnificent autumn season, with its spectacular and colorful “changing of the aspens” serves as a backdrop for hunters from all over the world in search of deer, elk, and other sporting prey. Eagle also serves as the gateway to Sylvan Lake State Park which offers a plethora of camping, hiking, and fishing activities, as well as winter activities like snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, and snowmobiling.
With its rich history, western flavor, mountain setting, quality of life, wonderful climate, and most importantly its emphasis on hospitality, Eagle welcomes you to our community.
