Town of Mucuchíes

This population has an average climate of 11 degrees Celsius making it the perfect

option to visit if you love the cold and the tranquility, also gives you landscapes of

paramo combined with colonial buildings.

The population of Mucuchíes

located in Mérida state, 48

kilometers from the capital of

Merida, between the hills of

Santo Domingo and the Culata,

owes its name to the Mucuchí

Indians who inhabited those

lands, which were dedicated to

agriculture and veneration of

Their gods thus maintaining a harmony with mother nature. Today agriculture is

one of the main economic activities of this population.

Mucuchíes, capital of the municipality Rangel, has a height that exceeds 2800

meters above sea level, which is why we advise you, as you walk through its

Mucuchíes, the castle San

Ignacio, this imposing

construction, of

architecture that recalls

the medieval castles of

Europe, a building built by

Ignacio Castrogiovanni,

who materialized his dream since childhood, to have his own castle. The Castillo

de San Ignacio currently functions as a hotel and restaurant.

Plaza “Las Heroínas”

The Plaza “Las Heroínas”, Cultural

Heritage of the state of Mérida, is located

in front of the cable car of Merida, is one

of the main attractions of the city, it

honors the memory of the hundreds of

Andean women, who gave their life in the

struggle for independence Of Venezuela,

next to the Liberator Simon Bolivar.

Currently, it offers the public a space for

city.

Maria Isabel Briceño, who replaced the tubes of the organ of the Cathedral in the

bundles that contained them, by sugar canes. These pipes were made of lead and

were to be delivered to the royalist forces. Finally, the tubes served for bullets of

the patriot rifles.

The Plaza “Las Heroínas” of

Mérida highlights the orderly and

In this space, weekly a cultural

agenda is developed with

various activities, in which the

participation of groups of dance,

theater, mimes, clowns,

zanqueros, corals, among

others.

Each Friday, visitors enjoy the

best of seventh art, with films and documentaries of national and international

stature projected on a 264-inch screen, strategically located so it can be viewed

from anywhere in the room.
