Total budget 2010-11: $148 million• 6.2 percent from state appropriations• Since 2007-08, appropriations decreased 46

percent• Lowest funded in South Carolina

Total operating (10 funds) budget 2010-11: $96 million

Penny Sales Tax • Horry County citizens approved tax in 2008 for facility improvements

• Proceeds shared among Horry County Schools, HGTC, Coastal Carolina University

• Tax could generate approximately $120 million for University in 15 years
