THE DRUM MAJOR PROJECT: Retracing The Steps Of Dr. King’s Funeral Procession Join us to March for Humanity Commemorating the 50th anniversary Monday, April 9TH, 11:30 AM From Ebeneezer to Morehouse

A project of the King Center’s MLK 50 Forward presented by Firehouse Creative Productions

How You Can Take Part: Community Engagement

Workshops • Why? The workshops are forums for diverse

communities across Atlanta to come together to express their individual and collective commitment to manifesting Dr. King’s principles.

• What do you do? Make wreaths to line the procession route and/or armbands to wear in the march.

• Facilitators will lead discussions with participants during the workshops to deepen their learning, understanding and connection to Dr. King’s teachings and each other.

477 Peachtree Street Successfully transitioned 196 shelter residents into permanent housing

With the transition complete, the building will no longer serve as a shelter

Under the direction of the United Way’s Regional Commission on

Homelessness (RCOH), a transition team comprised of government agencies

and all Atlanta Continuum-of-Care organizations offered permanent housing

options to all residents.

Long-term plans for the building have not been determined

The successful transition for the shelter residents would not have been possible

without significant support from and a number of organizations and homeless

service providers

Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District The District is new, innovatively regulated advertising sign rights for private property owners that will power new public space programming. The new outdoor media will: Support Downtown as the preferred diverse

and active market place for commerce and entertainment

Create light, vitality and activity through multimedia signage and District-funded arts and culture programming

Support commercial investment and enhance public gathering spaces

Provide a marketing platform that helps make Atlanta a premier host city

The District will be managed by the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. Work is underway
