Financial UpdateFinancial Update

Sinclair is stable and strong

– Rainy day fund (short-term help if we need it)– Authority to increase special fees – Healthy enrollment– Restrained spending increases

Page 10: Town Hall-Jan 12, 2011

Financial UpdateFinancial Update Recent state budget cut

– State is withholding one payment (a month)– $3 million for Sinclair this year

Equivalent to the salaries of 50 - 60 jobs, orEveryone taking 15 unpaid furlough days

– Sinclair will NOT cut jobs or furlough employees to fill this gap. Will use rainy day fund and revenue from extra enrollment to fill the $3 million.

Page 11: Town Hall-Jan 12, 2011

Financial UpdateFinancial Update

News Across Ohio . . .– Biggest budget gap in history ($8 - $10 billion)– 15% to 20% of the Ohio budget

– What will happen to our state funding?

Page 12: Town Hall-Jan 12, 2011

Financial UpdateFinancial Update State funding will probably decline Levy funding will probably decline We will probably be forced to increase our

tuition and fees– If the state cannot pay as much as they do for

students, then students will have to pay more for their education
