SmartEnCity – Making Smart Zero Carbon Cities a reality across Europe

The transition of municipalities into sustainable, smart, parti-cipatory and resource-efficient urban areas lies at the heart of the SmartEnCity project. This will be achieved through the integrated planning and implementation of measures aimed at improving energy efficiency in main consuming sectors in Europe’s small and medium sized cities, whilst increasing their supply of renewable energy and demonstrating the benefits.

The highly adaptable and replicable systemic approach is planned and implemented in three Lighthouse demonstrators: Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain), Tartu (Estonia) and Sønderborg (Denmark) and replicated in two Follower cities: Lecce (Italy) and Asenovgrad (Bulgaria).
