Brown’s history with the LPC: The LPC and Brown have been collaborating on both detector and performances, and physics analyses. Here is the selected short list in the area, in which the LPC directly or indirectly helps us achieve our goals.
• Detector and performance• Silicon Tracker• Hadron Calorimeter and Trigger• Tracking and Trigger Performance• Jet/MET Physics Object• b-Tagging Algorithm Development• MC simulation
• Researches and topics of interest• Top quark physics and electroweak interaction• New physics:
• Heavy gauge boson W’ Z’ • Fourth generation quarks/Vector-like quarks• Extra dimension• Multijet final states: Blackhole, Axigluon/Coloron, RPV SUSY• Long-lived particle, delayed muons• Stealth SUSY• …

Preliminary
Summary
9
As a PhD student who stationed at the LPC, I greatly benefited from:
1. A thorough aspects of physics analysis ranges from• Initial state of learning physics and what tools to be utilized
• hands-on tutorial (HATS)• initiate the ideas/techniques (Topics of the Weeks/Physics
Forums/Seminars/Workshops)• discuss the plausibility/goal of the analysis with leading
theorists• Analyzing – final state of the analysis
• utilize LPC storage space, and LPC computer cluster• take advantage of available expertise at the LPC• discuss about and obtain comments on physics results,
strengths and weaknesses of the analysis, etc from conveners/ARC/theorists at LPC
Summary
10
2. An atmosphere which encourages us to work and deliver the results in a timely manner.
3. A sense of particle physics community at the LPC
As a physicist and beyond, I greatly benefited from:
1. A bigger picture of particle physics and cosmology in general – not limited to LHC physics
2. Where we, as a whole community, stand, and in which direction we are progressing towards. And where I am standing
3. What other factors that we need to consider beside physics in large organization, e.g., budget trends, connections, jobs in the field.
4. Broaden my horizon: perspectives from graduate student fellows, postdocs, scientists and faculties
