Brooks Falls Katmai National Park 10 hours

Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park gives you the world famous views of Grizzly Bears catching wild salmon as they stand atop a waterfall. Brooks

Falls bear viewing is the true definition of a wilderness destination. It is located in the heart of Katmai National Park in south west Alaska. This one

of a kind bear habitat is sure to please whoever visits. Your Katmai Bear Viewing Adventure begins when you depart Anchorage on one of our

aircraft and head south along the Cook Inlet. This scenic flight takes you on a route by 2 active volcanoes, numerous salmon streams, and glaciers on

your way to Lake Clark Pass – a mountain pass used by bush pilots for years to get back and forth across the Alaska Range. Landing at Katmai you

begin to see why Brown Bears choose to make this place their home. Salmon streams, mountain backdrops, large lakes, and thick forests surround

you on this excursion. After getting out of the plane you will go through a quick bear orientation with one of the park rangers. From there it is off to

explore this bear country. A short walk through the park to a bear viewing platform which will provide you with shots of a lifetime of bears catching

salmon as they make their way up Brooks Falls. After you spend a few hours bear viewing a hearty pack lunch will be served, and then it is back out

to catch these bears in action.

Departs: 8:00am Rate: $845/ per person

Bear Viewing at Silver Salmon Creek 7 hours

Your Silver Salmon Creek Bear Viewing Adventure begins when you depart Anchorage on one of our aircraft and head south along the Cook Inlet.

The flight in itself will be a highlight of your trip; this scenic route takes you by 3 active volcanoes, numerous salmon streams, glaciers, and other

Alaskan sights. The flight down takes about 1 hour, once there the aircraft will land on the beach of Silver Salmon Creek at low tide. Your naturalist

bear guide will meet the plane on the beach and bring you up to the lodge for a bear orientation via 4-wheeler. From the lodge you will go out into

this ideal bear habitat to watch these creatures interact with each other in the wild. Your guide will take you through the park, adding to your safety

and answering any questions you may have about the bears. The area is excellent for viewing the bears because of the layout and geography; it is a 5

miles stretch of prairie grassland beachfront. Watch as they frolic in the grass with their cubs, dig for clams, and take afternoon naps. This area is

home mostly to Brown Bears, but it is not uncommon to see a few Black Bears in the area as well. After Bear Viewing head back to the lodge for a

hardy homemade lunch and refreshments. Relax in the comfort of one of the nicest lodges in Alaska for a while before heading back out for the

afternoon session with the bears.

Gold Rush Canyoneering

Journey to Alaska’s gold rush for cayoneering, rappelling and hiking in Glacier Valley. Adventure into the remote dry canyon sculpted by hydro-

mining utilizing harnesses, ropes, gloves, helmets and ladders to reach destinations including a thundering waterfall, caves and mossy canyons.

Crow Creek Road winds through the Chugach Mountains spruce and hemlock rainforests along the Iditarod National Historic Trail. We look for

black bears foraging in the underbrush on the way as we transport you to Crow Creek Gold Mine which has been continuously operating and

producing gold for over 100 years. Rappelling 50’ into the canyon adds the challenge of descending the vertical wall with harness belay devices and

ropes to the lush canyon below. Hiking the canyon requires avoiding small streams, so sturdy boots or shoes are required. Two steep pitch rappels

access’s the no turn back zone and a 50’ waterfall in this Jurassic-like area. Ascending dry canyons, sculpted by years of tumbling glacier water

provides obstacles along the way. These challenges require climbing ladders, optional rock climbing, gripping ropes and balancing on boulders in

steep terrain. Bring sturdy footwear, long pants, small camera and a sense of gold rush adventure.

Kenai River Salmon Fishing May-September

Different varieties of salmon run through this river, at different times of the year. These are the red salmon, silver salmon, Chinook

or King salmon, and the pink salmon. These salmon varieties have two runs a year, with the exception of the pink salmon whose run

occurs every other year. The runs for red salmon occur in late in June. Silver salmon return to their spawning grounds at the end of

the summer season, specifically the first part of August, and early autumn. Also, they arrive in the latter portion of September.

Those wanting to catch larger fish of this variety can do so during the September run. The Chinook or King salmon is the variety

that has contributed greatly to the popularity of the Kenai River among sports fishermen. Although not as many of this variety pass

through during their runs, they are generally larger than any other King salmon found in Alaska. This variety begins moving up the

Kenai River in May, and this continues until the end of July. Limits: 1 king salmon, 3 sock-eye salmon, 3 silver salmon

Jason’s Guide Service

Transportation: none provided

The rainbow trout is appealing to fish for because they readily bite and put up an aggressive fight. The Kenai River rainbow trout are known for their

massive size and plentiful numbers. The Kenai River rainbow trout is one of the most sought after fish in Kenai, Alaska and anglers appreciate a fly

fishing guide to make their Alaskan fishing adventure complete. Kenai River guides are also well versed in all forms of trout and salmon fishing

using every type of rod/reel combination.

Red (sockeye) salmon, silver (coho) salmon, and other salmon species are all migrating up the Kenai River in Alaska at certain periods during the

season. Find out when the ―run‖ is on for salmon fishing or when the Kenai rainbow trout are biting and book an Alaskan fishing trip with Jason’s

Guide Service.

All gear is provided for anglers to catch some of the hardest fighting and best eating fish that live in Alaska. While many fish make the run up the

river to spawn, it takes a certain skill to locate the perfect spot and use the right technique to ensure success. There will be ample opportunity for

photographs on your Alaskan fishing trip so make sure you have a good camera along that can withstand the elements. Anglers must provide their

own fishing license, lunch or snacks and beverages. Arrangements can be made to provide food and drink for additional cost.
