 (Golf  Product  Club)  – Platform  that  features  a  component  sharing  of  technical  information  and  knowledge,  well  as  a  component  of  marketing,  tourist  information,  calendar  of  events,  especially  related  with  golf.

   (Sustainable  Douro)  – The  National  Geographic  Society  in  2009  put  the  Douro  Valley  in  7th  place  in  the  European  ranking  and  16th    in  the  world  tourist  sustainable  destinations.

2. SEASONALITY MANAGEMENT

•  Portuguese  tourism  demand  is  strongly  concentrated  in  the  summer  months;  

•  This  has  significant  impacts  in  terms  of  sustainability  in  economic,  environmental  and  social  issues;  

•  Initiatives  to  mitigate  this…

INITIATIVES

•  Partnership  between  Portuguese  Institute  of  Tourism  and  Portuguese  and  Madeira  Airports  Management  Organizations;  

•  Aim:  to  create  new  flight  routes  of  touristic  interest;  

•  25  new  routes  were  supported  (included  Ryanair).

INITIATIVES

•  Aim:  Stimulate  internal  demand,  especially  to  promote  different  times  for  holidays  during  the  whole  year;  

•  Launching  tourist  routes    of  the  world  heritage  (includes  Batalha,  Alcobaça  and  Tomar).

APPROPRIATE LAND MANAGEMENT PLANNING •  There  has  been  a  participation  of  several  different  public  organizations  to  define  the  National  Programme  for  the  Territory  at  a  National  level,  but  also  at  a  regional  level  in  order  to  ensure  and  promote  preservation  of  the  natural  and  cultural  values.

5. SOCIAL IMPACT OF SECTOR

•  Tourism  has  an  important  social  impact  by  the  stimulus  that  can  make  to  development  through  local  and  regional  job  creation  and  distribution  of  wealth.    

•  Tourism  also  should  create  conditions  that  enable  all  citizens  to  access  and  use  the  touristic  offer.
