RELIGION

• Religion has always played a very important role in the lives of Indian people .Apart from the Hindus who form a majority , there are Muslims, Christians, sikhs and jains. Some of the major temples and important religious centres like Pushkar, Amarnath caves, Vaishno Devi , The world’s greatest Sufi shrines of Khwaja muinuddin chishti in Ajmer etc.

• Arts and crafts-The history of India reveals that the kings were patrons of art and craft and they encouraged their craftsmen in activities ranging from wood and marble carvings to weaving pottery, and paintings. Some of the popular crafts are Meenakari jewellary, ivory, lacs and glass, sandalwood and wood,stone, block paintings, found all over Rajasthan

• Paintings-• India’s role in the development of art has been very

important. Paintings of hunting scenes, which included innumerable horses, elephants etc dominate in the paintings of Mewar region.

• Folk Music and Dance• India is rich in Dancing, singing, drama, puppet shows,

devotional music, etc. Each region has its own folk entertainment. Some of the better known forms of entertainment are ghoomer dance, fire dance, drum dance etc.

• Fairs and Festivals• Indian people have great love for colour and joyous

celebrations. In addition to the festivals celebrated by Hindus, Muslims, and others, there are also traditional fairs. Celebrations occur almost round the year and are a splendid opportunity for the visitors to gain an insight into the cultural identity of India.

• Indian cuisineEach region in India has its own traditional dishes and specialties. In the royal Kitchens , food was very serious business . Hundreds of cooks worked in the stately palaces. The best known Rajasthani food is the combination of Dal Bati, Churma. Laddoos from Jodhpur, Jalebi from Pushkar, Ghevar from jaipur are famous.

• Palace on WheelsTravelling on the palace of wheels is a great delight. An unparalleled experience of travelling on vintage saloons that once belonged to the maharajas. Thus seven nights and eight days tour takes the traveller from Delhi to Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Agra and then back. Rajasthan is dotted with these marvelous monuments, and palaces, each one an example of rich architectural heritage. The Royal families are still using these royal Palaces here, Few have been converted into museum, Hotels and thus allowing the tourist a glimpse into the lavish opulence which was a part of regal lifestyle. With the growing Tourism industry and the demand for something new and different for the tourist , the heritage hotel concept came into existence.
