features of a travel destination , and provision of facilities and services for pleasure travelers(tourists).

Advantages

• Employment • Infrastructure development • Cultural preservation• Environmental protection • Foreign Exchange (generates resources to

import food, pharmaceuticals, technology, consumer goods.)

Disadvantages

• Cultural destruction, (modernization , freezes culture as performers, loss: language, religion, rituals, material culture.)

• Environmental destruction (game drives, resorts: golf, ski, beach, desert, world as play ground.)

• Development of illegal and/or destructive economic activities • Seasonal employment

• Negative lifestyle's • Diverted and concentrated development

Basilica of Bom Jesus

• The Bom Jesus Basilica, perhaps Goa's most famous church and among the most revered by Christians worldwide, is partially in ruins but still a model of simplicity and elegance, and a fine example of Jesuit architecture.

Located at Old Goa, 10 kilometres east of Panaji, the Bom Jesus Basilica is a World Heritage Monument.

Chapora Beach Goa

CHAPORA BEACH GOA

• A perfect spot for the leisure lovers and peace seekers, the Chapora is a scenic white sand beach that exists in North Goa.

• This beach is famous for fishing and boat building.

• Catching the fishes with an amazing view of the beautiful sunset ahead is really a soothing experience.

• Like the other popular beaches of Goa, Chapora also stays crowded most of the time of the day.

• Se Cathedral is the largest church in Asia and is known for its giant bells and exquisite architecture.

• With a classical Iberian façade, the impressive Se Cathedral symbolized Portugal’s commitment to the Catholic Church as well as its overwhelming supremacy

• Se Cathedral is a well known cathedral and the main altar is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria.

Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium

• The Fatorda Stadium, officially known as the Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium situated in Margao, Goa. The venue has been used to host both international football as well as cricket matches.

• It is Goa's only international stadium and has a seating capacity of 19,000 people.

• The Gateway of India is one of India's most unique landmarks situated in the city of Mumbai. The colossal structure was constructed in 1924. Located at the tip of Apollo Bunder, the gateway overlooks the Mumbai harbor, bordered by the Arabian Sea in the Colaba district

• The Gateway of India is a monument that marks India's chief ports and is a major tourist attraction for visitors who arrive in India for the first time

Elephanta Caves

ELEPHANTA CAVES

• The 'City of Caves', on an island in the Sea of Oman close to Bombay, contains a collection of rock art linked to the cult of Shiva. Here, Indian art has found one of its most perfect expressions, particularly the huge high reliefs in the main cave

• The Elephanta Caves , taluka Uran, district Raigad is located on island hills about 11 km north-east of the Apollo Bandar, Mumbai and 7 km from the shore of the mainland, approximately covering an area of 7 km in circumference. The island is named after a colossal elephant found in the island, which is popularly known as ‘Gharapuri’.

• The Basilica of Our Lady of the Mount, more commonly known as Mount Mary Church, is a Roman Catholic Basilica located in Bandra, Mumbai. The feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated here on the first Sunday after 8 September, the birthday of the Virgin Mary. The feast is followed by a week-long celebration known locally as the Bandra Fair and is visited by thousands of people.

• This is Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple at Prabhadevi in Mumbai, a two-century-old Temple that fulfills the desires of the worshipers.

• The city of Mumbai is a mute witness to places of worship & historical interest, which are not only popular but also of archaeological importance.

Conclusion

• Stability of nation is necessary for development of tourism industry. Political

disturbances hamper tourism. In spite of all these share of Indian tourism is only a

small portion of the world tourism industry. So we must use all potentialities by proper planning, financing acquiring experience, packaging marketing, and boosting creativity, make outstanding appeal to travelers and seek help from private entrepreneurs.
