America’s most visited national park lies nestled be-tween East Tennessee and North Carolina, and continu-ously proves to be no ordinary footpath. The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is home to what many scientists believe are the world’s oldest mountains, including Clingmans Dome and Mount Mitchell. It is also home to some of the world’s tallest mountains with peaks reaching over 6,000 feet! To put this into perspective, the Empire State Building stands tall at a mere 1,250 feet. At 6,643 feet, Cling-mans Dome is the second highest point within the park. First prize, goes to Mount Mitchell which rests at 6,684 feet.

The Rocky Top trail is approximately 14 miles long and reaches elevation peaks of 5527 feet, making it one of the most spectacular displays within the park.

For motorist in search of the perfect drive, Cades Cove o�ers an 11-mile loop full of scenic sights through broad and magnificent valleys.
