Assessment Matters

1) Formative Assessments/ Topical Reviews (Terms 1-3)

Short reviews for milestone check on students’ understanding of

the various topics/components for all subjects.

Students will not be informed in advance as it is an on-going

assessment to check students’ understanding.

It is non-weighted and for developmental purpose only.

Only Mid Year and Year End examinations (SA1 & SA2) will be

weighted. Note that only P4 and P6 will sit for SA1.

Tests skills and concepts that have been taught by the end

of Term 2 (SA1) and Term 4 (SA2).

• Strong professional judgement in the offering of different streams(Standard or Foundation) and different subject combinations.

• Each class’s distribution of students is based on a basket ofindicators such as students’ social needs, group dynamics andgender mix to ensure social mixing.

• Informed parental decisions at the end of P4.

• Every child matters in the decision made and offered.

• Letter with more details will be forthcoming.

Punctuality & attendance

• 7.35 a.m. to 7.45 a.m. – Silent Reading

Students are expected to attend school for

the full duration of the school term.

• Students who are absent from classes,

CCA and other school activities must

submit a valid medical certificate or a letter

of excuse.

• During official school hours, no student may

leave the school without permission from

school leaders.

Attire

• Students are to don on their school

uniform unless they have PE lessons for

the day.

• Details of other Attire expectations such as

hairstyle, hair accessories and other

accessories, socks, etc can be found in

the student’s handbook. Please take some

time to go through the student’s handbook

with your child/ward.

General Information

• All parents/ guardians who visit the school

must register at the Security Post before

entering the school.

• Parent/ guardian to put on the visitor’s

pass issued and proceed to the General

Office for assistance.

• Parents/ guardians should make an

appointment with the teacher first before

coming to school

General Information

• Parents should refrain from bringing water

bottles/ books for their children when they

have forgotten to do so.

• Students are not to bring toys, electronic

gadgets and mobile phones to school. The

school will confiscate these items, if found.

The school will not be held responsible for

the loss of any of these items. The use of

mobile phones is not allowed on the school

premises.

Homework Policy

Homework is any learning activity that

students are required to complete outside of

curriculum time. Assignments and Projects

are considered as homework.

• Apply skills and concepts taught

• Develop good study skills and habits

• Encourage ownership and responsibility for

independent learning

• Teachers and parents can monitor student

No homework will be given on

• holidays accorded for religious observances and

racial celebration e.g. Hari Raya, Good Friday.

• Tuesdays to be submitted on Wednesdays. This

is to give students ample time to complete their

homework, and in so, cultivate a healthy

disposition towards learning.

• Developed by: Professor Matt Sanders through more than 30 years of clinical

research trial

• Aim: Prevent behavioural, emotional and developmental problems in children by

enhancing the knowledge, skills and confidence of parents

• Delivery Format: Large group seminars (Triple P Level 2), individual

consultations (Triple P Level 3), and group sessions (Triple P Level 4)

• Survey administered to all P3 and P4 parents (given through sealed envelope

last week) will be collected and analysed to identify the families whom will benefit

from this programme. Survey results will be strictly confidential. Identified families

will then be contacted with regards to details of the training session.

The evaluation study on Triple P shows that the

programmes bring about better parenting and child

outcomes.

Triple P Level 2 Seminars

Primary School

At times we are so caught up with “getting the

things done” that we “react” first before

thinking much of the child’s perspective. Now I

consciously pause for a while before I say

something when my children do something I

disagree.

In addition, after attending this programme I

feel more strongly that we, as parents, must

take care of our mind and body. When we are

in good position with ourselves, we are able to

guide and manage our children better.

Students learn about history of Singapore River and its

importance in the development of Singapore.

Through observation, students identify the different

features of the river and draw how the river would look like

in the future.

Based on their drawing, students use different musical

instruments to describe the sounds that can be heard in the

drawing.
