WELL SERVICES and TOSL joined forces to design, engineer, build, construct, commission and operate a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) for the State Owned Oil Company, Pe-trotrin, to complement Trinmar’s offshore pro-duction in the South West Soldado Field. The MOPU design encompasses all requisite com-pression and production equipment installed on Well Services Rig-152.

Striving towards our company’s philosophy to provide leading technical and quality related services and products to de-velop, manage, engineer, build and operate to the requirements of our customers in the areas of Engineering Services, Products and Equipment, our Inspection & Testing Division now offers new and improved Non-Destructive Inspection Services as follows:

1.) LIFTING EQUIPMENT INSPECTION

To keep up with the stringent safety demands within the lifting industry, we have recently certified nine (9) Lifting Equip-ment Inspectors (LEIs). They underwent extensive training and as such are fully equipped to perform periodic examina-tions on lifting appliances and accessories accredited by NSL (part of ASCO group) e.g. wire ropes, slings, fittings and man-made fibre slings, chains, shackles, hooks, open wedge sockets, eye bolts & pad-eyes, turnbuckles, manual & powered chain hoist, lever hoist, wire rope hoist, beam clamps, beam trolleys, lifting clamps, sheave blocks, hydraulic cylinders and jacks. TOSL’s LEIs are also well-appointed to perform NDE & Visual Examination on Containers, Equipment, Baskets and Cargo Carrying Units in accordance with BS EN 12079, DNV 2.7-1 and BS 7072 standards. We are also in possession of a high capacity load cell (120 ton) for load testing units of lifting equipment. Note: On request for recertification of lifting equipment, the unit should be accompanied with its assigned Certificate of Conformance (Birth Certificate) to show evidence that it has been manufactured and designed to meet the minimum set of regulatory, technical and safety requirement. The Certificate of conformance is issued upon purchase of the item from the dealer. 2.) EDDY CURRENT TESTING – WELDS

We now offer Eddy Current Non-Destructive Testing on welds, which is a quick and reliable means of detecting surface defects on welds for both bare and coated surfaces (limited). This testing utilizes an induced magnetic field to generate eddy currents within a conductive material to detect discontinuities. It reduces the need for coating removal, which by itself can be harmful to the component, while also reducing maintenance cost and turnaround time. This Non-Destructive Testing method can be utilized to detect surface discontinuities on both ferromagnetic and non-

ferromagnetic electrically conductive materials e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel, copper etc. It can be tailored to test complex geometry components together with estimate sizing of discontinuities for evaluation.

For the third quarter of 2015, the TOSL Sports, Cultural and Charity Club hosted its Annual Cookout. The day was filled with hot sun and bright laughter as teams took part in the competition. There were fun activities throughout the day such as a dunking booth, ring toss, guess the weight and even a watermelon eating competition.

This year, the theme was the Grill Edition where teams were required to prepare chicken on the grill. Additionally, there was a mystery ingredient. Prior to the event, teams were given clues to figure out the mystery ingredient. At the start of the cookout, the mystery ingredient, which was breadfruit, was presented.

The Competition results were as follows:

• Best Tasting Main Ingredient:

◊ 3rd place: Corporate Cowboys

◊ 2nd place: Grills gone wildF.Hawaiian style; and

◊ 1st place: A+ Dropouts.

• The Best Mystery Ingredient was the breadfruit pie pre-pared by the Corporate Cowboys.

• There was a tie for Best Overall Team which went to Grills gone wild and A+ Dropouts.

• Best presentation: Grills gone Wild.

This year, TOSL once again volunteered and partnered with the Energy Chamber for the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) on September 19

th, 2015 at the Quinam Beach, Siparia.

The International Coastal Clean-up is the world's largest volunteer effort dedicated towards the clean-up of our oceans and waterways. People all over the world remove trash from the shores and document what they find. The data is then compiled and published in an annual report on marine debris by the Ocean Conservancy.

Ocean trash is a serious pollution problem that affects the health of people, wildlife and local economies. Policymakers use the ICC data to raise awareness about marine debris in an effort to reduce the problem at the source. Locally, we can take responsibility for where our trash ends up. We can do this by ensuring that we educate ourselves and our families about good environmental practices.

TOSL was able to remove 50 lbs. of garbage that consisted of glass, paper, plastic and other materials, which were uni-dentifiable, in under an hour. Hence, that provides a good indication of how much garbage are on our beaches knowing that was only one location. We must note, however, that education is the only tool that allows us to F...(Con’t on Pg. 5)

FFcreate the mindset of disposing our garbage responsibility. The aim of these exercises are not to clean-up

polluted areas year after year, but rather awareness creation.

After the clean-up, participants relaxed in a shed courtesy the Forestry Division where we curried a few ducks, played cricket and had a good time.

The HSSE Department would like to thank staff for their continuing support of all related HSSEQ endeavors. We would like to encourage everyone to partake in all the HSSE activities for the remainder of the year.

A reminder to all managers and supervisors that good HSE leadership practices is paramount to the execution of excellent work in-house or on the field. Your employees will follow exactly what you do, so if you do it right, so will they, but if you do take a shortcut, so will they.

The original 5S principles were stated in Japanese. However, due to their proven value, they have been translated and re-stated in English. The 5S is a mantra of sorts designed to help build a quality work environment, both physically and mentally.

The 5S condition of a work area is critical to the morale of employees and the basis of customers’ first impressions. Manage-ment’s attitude regarding employees is re-flected in the 5S condition of the work area.

The 5S philosophy applies in any work ar-ea. The elements of 5S are simple to learn and important to implement:

• Sort: Eliminate what is not needed

• Straighten: Organize what remains

• Shine: Clean the work area

• Standardize: Schedule regular cleaning and maintenance

• Sustain: Make 5S a way of life

Benefits to be derived from implementing 5S include:

• Improved safety

• Higher equipment availability

• Lower defect rates

• Reduced costs

• Increased production agility & flexibil-ity

• Improved employee morale

• Better asset utilization

• Enhanced enterprise image to cus-tomers, suppliers, employees, and man-agement

The figure to the left is an example of a 5S workplace scan diagnostic checklist.

Those tricky homophones; Words that are spelt differently but sound the same. They deceive children, grown-ups and smartphones alike. Thanks to technology we add another one to the long list.

Where Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish, we have Phishing as the act of trying to catch someone else’s personal information online and while one type of Fishing may be fun the other Phishing is illegal.

Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal infor-mation online such as passwords and credit card numbers. The more users

are aware of this online threat then the alarming amount of users affected by phishing attacks will certainly be reduced. Kaspersky labs reported 37.3 million users experienced phishing attacks last year alone.

To avoid biting the bait the IT Department has listed some tips on how to detect phishers in your lake. 1. Do not click on links, download files or open attachments in emails from unknown senders. It is best to open

email attachments when you are expecting them and know what they contain. 2. Communicate personal information only via phone or secure websites. When conducting online transactions

pay attention to the URL of the website ensuring it begins with “Https” the “S” stand for SECURE. 3. Beware of links in emails that ask for personal information. Always remember the objective of phishing at-

tacks is to make emails, links and websites to look as legitimate as possible. Businesses should never request person-al financial information to be sent via email. Simply call before sending sensitive information.

4. Protect your computer with a firewall, spam filter, anti-virus and spyware software. With all the applications looking after your online safety, some level of vigilance if required at the end of the user. Be sure to check your online accounts and bank statements regularly to ensure no unauthorized transactions have been made.
