All aspects of water production, transmission and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater collection, transmission and treatment, are the responsibilities of Toronto Water. The division manages or operates a large number of facilities. Just a few of these facilities include four water treatment plants, 520 kms of trunk watermains, 5,347 kms of distribution watermains, 470,000 water service connections, four wastewater treatment plants, and 463,300 sewer service connections. Water Infrastructure Management

Responsible for plant and linear infrastructure asset master planning, we maintain inventories of Toronto Waters assets and ensure existing infrastructure has adequate capacity and is in good repair. We plan for future growth; prepare the annual capital program for infrastructure repairs, replacement and rehabilitation; and help protect our water resources through new policies, programs, technology and environmental assessments.
