Dear parents and carers, During the last couple of weeks we have noticed the change of seasons - it’s beginning to feel a bit more like winter! In response to this, I am requesting that you support us by ensuring that your child continues to wear full school uniform to school. At TPS we comply with the Department of Education’s Uniform Policy as we believe wearing the school uniform promotes a sense of belonging and creates a positive identity for our school community. If your child has had a growth spurt or requires additional clothing, drop into our uniform shop for both new or quality, preloved items. Classroom teachers will encourage children to wear their uniform with pride each day. The weather prediction for this Friday is 14 degrees and rain. This is not ideal for our excursion to the Reptile Park. A decision regarding postponement will be made tomorrow. We are also looking forward to our whole school Murook Excursion next Friday. I extend my thanks to our Aboriginal Education team for their work co-ordinating this event. Earlier this term, we nominated Michael Murphy for a DOE Performance Excellence Award. I am very excited to announce that our Director, James Brigden has endorsed this nomination. This award recognises Michael’s commitment to Public Education and the fantastic work he is doing to support the students, staff and community of TPS. We are very blessed to have Michael as part of our TPS team. We will make sure we include a photo of the awards ceremony in our newsletter. Please read the section of the newsletter relating to changes to daily pickups and drop offs, as we have witnessed very unsafe behaviour that exposes our children to serious risk of harm. I’m sure you will all agree SAFE is much better than SORRY. Kind regards Kim Witt

Dear parents and carers,

During the last couple of weeks we have noticed the change of seasons - it’s beginning to feel a bit more like winter!

ROAD SAFETY AND OUR CHILDREN We are doing our best to ensure that our children arrive and leave school safely. We acknowledge that parking is limited and this proposes challenges for drop offs and pickups. We need to work together to eliminate risks and prevent accidents and injuries. I have requested all staff park either in staff car parks or away from the 40km zones. This has reduced the congestion out the front. I am also supervising children leaving. All children need to be with an adult.

• If you are parking on the opposite side of the road, you will need to walk over and collect your child/children as we do not have a children’s’ crossing.

• If you are entering the school through the entrance opposite McDonalds, You will need to use the pedestrian gate.

Please don’t enter through the drive way as this is now being used by our taxis and is also a busy area.

P&C News The P&C would like to thank you all for supporting the Thompsons pie drive last week. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. 4/5 love Science!

Our class did an experiment where we put food dye into a cup of water. We put paper towel into it and another cup of normal water. It changed the water to a different colour.

Hi, my name is Isaac Haines and I’m in my second year at Newcastle University studying Primary Teaching. I am currently observing and teaching until the end of term with 5/6N as I gain a valuable insight into how a primary class operates. I will be visiting some other classes to observe how different year groups are taught and behave. If you see me around the school feel free to pull me up, I’d love to talk to you to understand the school from a parent’s perspective. I look forward to working with the staff and students of Toronto Public School.
