Toronto Guqin Society http://torguqin.wordpress.com 多倫多古琴社 Our society was founded in 2005, to provide a platform for connecting and expanding the qin- playing community, but more importantly, to provide to everyone the experience of authentic Chinese elegant culture, including: Tea ceremony, Go/Weiqi (encirclement chess), Brush calligraphy and painting, and more. The Chinese sartorial and ritual heritage is largely forgotten by most Chinese due to the past 370 years of turmoil and Westernization. We are part of a global movement to restore Hanfu as the authentic image of ethnic Chinese dress, and revive the practice of various seasonal and Confucian rituals. We have successfully organized workshops and Chengren-Li, the coming-of-age ceremony, to raise awareness of Chinese culture beyond the hustle- bustle of popular folk tradition. We can offer you: Public lectures, performances on guqin, Chinese ritual/court music, the scholarly arts, tea Hands-on workshops on authentic Hanfu design and tailoring, including its history and ritual Seminars on Chinese etiquette, by Confucian standards 1 on 1 or group guqin classes, via Standards of the Guqin curriculum (in English) We are happy to provide custom-tailored events for your organization or institution’s needs! Our society was founded in 2005, to provide a platform for connecting and expanding the qin-playing community, but more importantly, to provide to everyone the experience of authentic Chinese elegant culture, including: Tea ceremony, Go/Weiqi (encirclement chess), Brush calligraphy and painting, and more.

We have successfully organized workshops and Chengren-Li, the coming-of-age ceremony, to raise awareness of Chinese culture beyond the hustle-bustle of popular folk tradition.

We can offer you:

Public lectures, performances on guqin, Chinese ritual/court music, the scholarly arts, tea

Hands-on workshops on authentic Hanfu design and tailoring, including its history and ritual

Seminars on Chinese etiquette, by Confucian standards

1 on 1 or group guqin classes, via Standards of the Guqin curriculum (in English)
