Introduction

Norwegian based companies in the oil and gas sector have a well established reputation and a significant market share as providers of services, equipment and systems to topsides and substructures for fixed and floating production platforms and drilling rigs. In this catalogue we present the cluster of partner companies of Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) that provide products and services towards topsides in general, as well as for the various types of floating support structures.
TOPSIDESGenerally topsides comprises of production systems, supporting systems and accom-modation for personnel. Its content is derived from the services it delivers in exploiting an oil and/or gas field. E.g. separate oil, gas and water, deliver power and other utilities or accommodate personnel.
Its support structure; e.g. jacket, semisubmersible, or a floating monohull vessel, is designed to support the Topsides in the marine environment and in some cases provide storage of the produced liquids. In the early years of offshore developments, jackets were normally used to support the topsides. However for water depths exceeding 150-200 meters, floating solutions are superior to fixed installations.
FLOATING SUPPORT STRUCTURESFloating support structures have been deployed in a number of specific offshore services both to find and develop oil & gas fields. Examples are mobile drilling rigs, service vessels and oil production platforms. While the FPSO has been the preferred floating production solution in most of the world, other solutions have been applied in the US GoM, particularly Tension Leg Platforms (TLPs) and SPARs. The FPSO is the dominant type of floating production unit and constitutes for around 70% of the market in 2010. The FPSOs are particularly effective in remote and/or deepwater locations without a pipelines infrastructure. In harsh environments the risers are connected to the vessel, through a turret, which allows the vessel to weather-wane. Alternatively, in benign environments like West Africa the FPSO can be spread moored and risers connected to the vessel at the side.
The selection of the floating support structure depends on the following criteria:• Dry or wet trees• Storage requirement• Available pipeline infrastructure• Operator familiarity• Field life• Cost• Area/field development plan (hub, tie-backs etc)

Enhanced Drilling
Enhanced Drilling is a provider of specialist drilling technology and services to the international offshore oil and gas industry. PRODUCTSEC-Drill® is a Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) system based on a Controlled Mud Level (CML) method. It can be used in both shallow and deep water (including depleted wells) primarily on subsea wells from floaters and in certain projects from a jack-up or platform. The system reduces BHP (Bottom Hole Pressure) by reducing the riser level in a controlled manner. This way, Equivalent Circulating Density effect (ECD) can be drastically reduced - invaluable when drilling narrow pressure windows, especially in the reservoir section. Instant kick detection capability is also available.
RMR® Riserless Mud Recovery is a risk-reduction system that has enabled operators to drill better, more stable top holes safely, quickly and with less environmental impact since 2003. The system, which has been used on more than 290 wells worldwide, is an innovative way to return mud and cuttings to the rig before the marine riser is run, without discharge to the seabed. It gives primary well control, weighted mud is in the hole at all times, plus any gains or mud losses can be seen early.
MPC Managed Pressure Cementing enables the successful isolation of high-pressure, uncon-solidated water/gas bearing formations. The
wellbore pressure in the annulus can be accurately managed to remain within the pressure window during cement displacement and curing. This will prevent losses and unwanted fluid exchanges between the wellbore and casing annulus.
The CTS Cuttings Transportation System transports cuttings away from the well area during top-hole drilling on subsea wells from floaters / jack-ups and during clean-up operations on the seabed. It has been used on more than 450 wells since its introduction in 1997.

Miko Marine
Miko Marine AS was founded in 1996 on the idea of using a magnetic patch for stopping seawater leaking into a floating vessel - or to stop oil leaking from the vessel into the sea.
The magnetic patch, called the Miko Plaster®, has since been delivered to several hundreds of clients world-wide, both in emergency situations, as preventive measures to increase preparedness and for planned underwater operations such as in-water survey.With the experience gained from using the Miko Plaster® for more than 20 years rigid sea chest covers and cofferdams have been developed for FPSOs and other floating installations. The covers are engineered and designed for the individual application with both ROV and diver installation depending on customer requirements. Double independent barrier can also be accommodated with a cofferdam being installed on the outside of a sea chest cover.

TP Connectors (TPC) was established in April 2016 with the core business to design and manufacture compact flanges and clamp connector products and associated seal rings of the highest quality to the global oil and gas industry. The company was founded in collaboration with Teknisk Produksjon AS (TP) in Drammen which has machined compact flanges and clamp connectors since the late 1980’s. Typhonix Low Shear produced water pumpsConventional centrifugal pumps are known to break oil droplets while pumping produced water. The consequence is that the efficiency of downstream produced water treatment processes is reduced. Often positive displacement pumps, like eccentric screw pumps, are used to counteract oil droplet breaking. Drawbacks of positive displacement pumps, however, are often high maintenance requirements and restricted operational window.
Typhonix has over a longer period together with the oil companies ENI, ConocoPhillips, Statoil, GDF SUEZ, and the Research Council of Norway, developed separation friendly produced water pumps. The low shear/coalescing pumps are developed for produced water applications. Through extensive testing, Typhonix has shown that it is possible not only to make a pump which does not break droplets, but design a pump that enlarges oil droplets during pumping. XSENS AS was established in 2013 as an independent affiliate company of Christian Michelsen Research AS (NORCE).The aim is to provide upstream Oil & Gas industry with new functionality, cost reduction and improved reliability for flow rate and fraction measurement topside and subsea. The cost-saving clamp-on design, makes the Xsens flow measurement competitive for a wide range of applications within the oil and gas industry and beyond.
PRODUCTS XSENS Clamp-on Flow Meter accurately measures flow rate as well as fluid fraction, salinity and density by detection of a tomographic acoustic pattern from outside of the pipe. Key enablers for the disruptive innovation is off-centre ultrasonic beam transmission and the process pipe utilized as an advanced transmission gateway for fluid properties along with pipe characteristics. Together this results in qualitative and quantitative measurement accuracy up until now only achieved by in-line technology. By installation of XSENS clamp-on meter, pipe integrity is never broken; XSENS clamp-on meter have no potential leak points and will not cause any risk for leakage of oil or gas. Installation causes no harm or personnel risk, as the instru-ment system is clamped to the outside of the pressurized pipe. Size and weight is just a fraction of conventional flow meter systems.Xsens received the spotlight award for most innovative technology at OTC 2019
SERVICES XSENS assist in doing installation and commis-sioning of our own Meters.
REFERENCES After successful flow loop testing at industrial conditions at CMR multiphase flow loop (NORCE), an industrial pilot installation program was initiated, involving oil companies in the North Sea aswell as in the Middle East and ship owners where Meters are used to measure bunker oil consumption and caracteristics. Today the Meters are commercial available and several deliveries have been completed.
