TopSolid'Wood enables even highly complex model-ing. Using the design tree and features, parts or assem-blies can be modified very easily.

All geometry types: wireframe, surface, and a varietyof solid models.

Powerful functions for surface modeling: enable thedesign of all ledge types. Surfaces are defined viacurves in order to be able to rapidly modify a model byvarying curves.

Design features: profiling and counter-profiling,tenons and mortises (open mortise and tenon, notchedjoints, etc.), fillets with constant and variable radius,holes with fixed distances, pockets, ledges, grooves,etc.

POWERFUL MODELING FUNCTIONS

TopSolid'Wood supports the management of assem-blies containing several thousand parts or componentsthat were designed directly in the model or assembledvia positioning constraints.

In-situ design: a piece of furniture can be designedusing one single file.

Design via referencing sub-assemblies: assembly ofvarious sub-assemblies and parts using positioningconstraints (arrangement of components). Managementof degrees of freedom (DOF) and clearances.

Kinematics: simulation of typical kinematic connec-tions (guide rails, sliders, pivots, etc.), collision checkand monitoring of important trajectories.

Bills of material: multiple levels, consideration ofmaterial quantities.

OPTIMIZED ASSEMBLY MANAGEMENT

Once the preliminary design phase is completed, aprototype is built, and the project must be presented tothe marketing department and to customers forapproval.

UTILIZATION OF COMPONENTS ANDSTANDARD PARTS

All parts and assemblies are transferred associatively to adrawing document in TopSolid'Draft, taking into account indi-vidual views at different scales and important dimensions forcontrolling the design.

DRAWING CREATION

Every component in TopSolid'Wood incorporates all associatedassembly procedures. Screws, for instance, are fastened by using thecorresponding hole. This information can be passed on directly tomanufacturing.
